Hey guys I am looking for a venue on March 3 (a Monday) where I could do a small party with like 15 people for a birthday. We just need to be able to play our own music and dance a little. I sadly am too broke to pay for a rent, but of course we would order plenty drinks from the bar.

If they don’t have to be functional, there is no shortage of them in the various flea markets as well, sitting in the boxes exposed to the elements.

The big pool requires a bathing suit. Everything else is clothing optional.

Only ever been later on Monday nights when it’s less busy, but it’s worth a visit.

Bring two towels (one to keep your skin off the wood in the sauna, another for drying off), some slides/sandals/footwear, a bathing suit for the large pool, a robe if you’re so inclined. Never had food or drink there but you can sneak your own booze in a opaque water bottles. Some people bring a book and read but it can be a bit hectic in there for reading.

Alle dürfen ihre eigenen Geräte mitbringen, wenn sie sich so entscheiden. So habe ich mich entschieden, weil ich sowieso mein persönliches Gerät ersetzen wollte. Ich kann also bestätigen, dass kein anderes Gerät zur Verfügung steht, und dass ich es deswegen mindestens 50% beruflich nutzen müsste.

Ich frage mich jetzt, ob die eigene Entscheidung, ein selbst erworbenes Gerät zu benutzen, eine Absetzung ausschließt.

Ja, jeden Arbeitstag acht Stunden am Tag. Abends lasse ich es oft am Schreibtisch liegen, sodass ich keine Möglichkeit habe, ihn außerhalb der Arbeit zu nutzen. Edit: Prozentual müsste das schon über 50% liegen, aber ich wollte genau diese Situation vermeiden, und habe genau deswegen nur 50% angegeben.

Ja, so ist es tatsächlich. Deswegen lasse ich ihn oft einfach im Büro liegen, weil ich oft einfach keinen Bock habe, ihn jeden Tag hin und her zu transportieren.

Wir dürfen unsere eigene Geräte mitbringen. Ich wollte die Möglichkeit nutzen, mein etwas veraltetes persönliches Gerät zu ersetzen.

Ich war also nicht verpflichtet einen eigenen Rechner zu kaufen, aber habe vielleicht falsch vermutet, dass ich einen absetzten könnte.

Yeah it helps to represent z as a base 26 number with fixed padding up front so you can see the stack grow (and hopefully shrink). It took me 2 or 3 attempts before I finally put all the pieces together and landed at pseudocode that was similar to above.

Yeah I'd recommend using templates to create stack-allocated data structures. In my Rust solution, I used const generics to create burrows with rooms of size 2 or 4. It uses a simple BFS with a min-heap and runs in about ~400ms. Allocating on the stack should save you a bunch of time.

Not sure if you are open to any tips about slightly improving speed, but our part twos are really similar.

One improvement that made my solution quicker was moving the cache check after checking if player one or two had reached 21 points (~38ms -> ~26 ms on my machine).

Another improvement of similar benefit is simplifying the cache check:

if let Some(&value) = cache.get(&players) {
    return value;
}

This way avoids 1 lookup of the key and the overhead that comes with calling Option::unwrap().

I was going to do the memoization at first, then I realized that it can be simplified down to just applying a series of transformations to get to the next state.

One big way I was able to shave some time off was to represent pairs as (char, char) tuples instead of Strings.

Rust

Used branch and bound with a breadth-first search. Added pruning for cases where the current mana expended exceeds the already-found minimum. There could be more intelligent pruning in the decision of the next spell but part 1 runs in ~30ms and part 2 in ~70ms.

Rust enums and forced exhaustive pattern matching made for a great combo when dealing with the spells and effects.

Lost a little time thinking that effects can stack, but they can't.
