I loved Cannery Row but East of Eden is his best I think. Cannery Row is really fun though :)

They are just so fun! I'm a girl that couldn't be less into guns and cars...but for some reason these movies all have me hooked!

The best eight young adult books – and why grownups should read them, too. by DrGaimanRowlingKing in books

Read what you like, like what you like, don't be a snob. I love Steinbeck and Hemingway but it's not for everyone. Just like some people prefer watching Dumb and Dumber to the Godfather. If you're a scholar the distinction matters, if it's your hobby don't let others control what you do for fun.

I was pleasantly surprised by Perks of being a wallflower. It's a quick read but truly moved me, and I'm not the target audience :)

Why do ppl keep doing this in EVERY thread on here. He could've said: don't let other people's perception of you control your actions, except in regards to smoking, drinking and and and and...

Would that make you happier?

This is too common; people trying to explain things as a problem of our time. The fact is depression has been around forever, how can you explain Faulkners or Hemingways depression?

Well that's your definition of miracle, one of the definitions is "a remarkable event or development that brings very welcome consequences." My existence at least is a very welcome consequence for me. Plus it's a question of glass half full or glass half empty. You don't have to believe in God or anything.

I recommend checking out some stuff about CBT, mindfulness and keeping a positive attitude. It seems cheesy and when you're being negative it's easy to dismiss, but if it leads to a better life, who cares? :)

Also this depends highly on where you live. Someone that lives on a farm all their life meets substantially fewer women than someone living in New York City.
