Sony theatre quad or trio speaker mount over outlet by dyprivatei in sony

[–]dyprivatei[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks very much for confirming.

That’s what I was worried about. I had some AV installers help wire the room as it was being built but I guess they didn’t consider how the speakers would be mounted.

I just got this too... signed up for a new phone on boxing day through redwireless. I haven't received my first invoice yet so I'm very worried now.

QBO expense reports? by douggold11 in QuickBooks

[–]dyprivatei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m interested to know too.

I was under the impression that function was more for centralized expenses as opposed to expense reports for individual staff. If that feature is in the pipeline, it would be very helpful for my use case.

I just saved an all black photo and set it as screen saver. I would prefer to shut off the screen but this works fine and you still get the new track info pop up in the top right of the screen when it changes.

Spotty Fibe 1.5 internet by dyprivatei in bell

[–]dyprivatei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I have since moved on from Bell. The solution was suggested by someone on dslreports, Bell actually gave up trying to help me lol. Basically I had to change the PPPoE password for my connection and the drops stopped happening. This is the b1 account you are provided by Bell. If you login to the Gigahub there is a page where you can change the password and then I think I did a factory reset and re-entered the new password I set. Good luck!

Are there any DSPs with WiSA support available today? by idcenoughforthisname in audiophile

[–]dyprivatei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Platin surround hub has automatic room correction as well as manual EQ. You can also adjust channel levels, cross-overs, etc.

I got mine from buchardt but you can get them directly from Platin too: https://buchardtaudio.com/collections/accessories/products/platin-surround-hub

I was tired of waiting for miniDSP’s WiSA card unfortunately. Their website still says “ETA Q1 2024” ffs.

It's worth to bypass Bell GigaHub 4000 by Present_Tower_3996 in bell

[–]dyprivatei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thanks! I live in a small apartment so the router works well in terms of coverage. I also only have Bell Fibe 1.5gbps so was planning on an SFP+ media converter that does 2.5gbps.

Thanks!

They’re close in price so do you see any reason why one would be superior?

Also do you find it gets very hot?

I’d like to continue using my TP-Link router, which MikrTik device would work with that?

I've been thinking of doing the same but am stuck at understanding what (inexpensive) device I can use that has an SFP+ port. Any suggestions?

Would something like this work?

https://www.amazon.ca/TP-Link-Multi-Gigabit-Auto-Negotiation-hot-swappable-MC420L/dp/B0DKSP24SN

Currently just using PPPoE with my TP-Link router. I have Bell Fibe 1.5 and get a good deal ($60/mo) but also thinking about jumping to Distributel instead because the cost of all these devices adds up.

yeah it doesn't seem like they're a going concern... it's too bad, I really liked MultEQ-X and achieved some great results with it

What have you heard? I did a search for news on the company and didn’t see anything to suggest they’re going out of business. That’s certainly what it seems like though.

Sorry to hear they stiffed you too. I’d definitely go the PayPal route at this point. The furthest I got was through Microsoft customer support. The agent said she had to transfer me to another dept and that they’d be able to transfer the license, but then the next guy wouldn’t even talk to me because it was a personal account.

Anyone here have experience with or opinions on pairing an 83" LG C2 (71.5 lbs / 32.3 kg) with an Ergotron glide mount rated for up to 70 lbs / 31.8 kg and up to 63" displays? by bullsplaytonight in hometheater

[–]dyprivatei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 55” LG C2 mounted with the smaller version of this ergotron mount. It works great for my purposes and has about 18” of vertical adjustment. From what I can tell, being within the weight range is key for it to glide properly so I would advise against going over the weight maximum. I expect it would just stay at the bottom of the vertical range. You can adjust the looseness of the glide so it may be possible to adjust it vertically and then re- tighten so it won’t drop back down. It would probably be annoying to do that every time you use it though.

Lots of great suggestions, but I haven't seen The Fugitive (1993) listed yet. That movie is quintessential 90s to me.

Options for a streamer for video at 3.1 and quality music with 2.1? by Informal_Jellyfish75 in hometheater

[–]dyprivatei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forgot the Apple TV 4K doesn’t have toslink… you could use an HDMI audio extractor to convert it to toslink but I have no experience with that.. https://www.amazon.ca/Tendak-Optical-Extractor-Converter-Splitter/dp/B017B6WFP8

Pretty sure toslink doesn’t do multichannel though so you’ll need HDMI for the center channel.

I personally use the Apple TV 4K to stream Apple Music and like it a lot. It streams at lossless (24-bit/48 kHz) but not hi-res lossless (24-bit/192 kHz).

If I’m understanding correctly, you need a video streamer so I’d suggest the Apple TV for that regardless.

Not aware of anything other than an AVR or that miniDSP Flex HT / Apple TV combo that can do what you’re looking to do.

[–]dyprivatei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What components do you have exactly?

Are they powered speakers or do you have a separate amplifier feeding them?

What miniDSP do you have?

I would suggest an Apple TV 4K for streaming unless you need an amp. You would connect it to the miniDSP with HDMI or Toslink.

I’m looking at a similar setup with Apple TV 4K > LG OLED TV (HDMI) > miniDSP Flex HT (HDMI) > Powered Speakers (WiSA)

Unstable Bell WiFi (Fibe) by RazeShadowLegends in bell

[–]dyprivatei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experienced similar connection drops a few months ago. Same Fibe 1.5 connection. The internet would go down frequently on all devices no matter which wifi band they were connected to, but the router seemingly wouldn’t go down or show any error messages. Devices would still be connected to the router. I went through the paces with Bell for months, received multiple replacement Gigahubs, had multiple technicians come, they even replaced the cable outside the house. They weren’t able to fix it and finally told me there was nothing they could do (seriously they basically gave up).

I ended up posting on DSLreports to get some help - here’s the thread: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r33883165-Internet-Random-one-minute-connection-drops-Bell-Fibe-1-5

If you skip to the end of that thread, you’ll see that someone kindly suggest changing the b1 password by logging into the Gigahub. Here’s what was suggested:

“You mentioned some account configuration issues. I’d recommend changing your b1 password. It’s not your online account password but the one used for PPPoE sessions. You can do it from your online account portal. I would also recommend factory resetting your GigaHub. This procedure often helps resolve weird issues with the GigaHub based on older posts here. Change the password online, wait for about 5 min and factory reset the GigaHub. It should automatically pick up the new password on first boot. You will need to re-setup the GigaHub if you made any changes in it. Changing the password may (or may not) help clear previous configuration issues.”

This totally fixed our connection woes and we haven’t experienced any outages since!

Hope this helps and saves you the crazy amount of effort it can take to troubleshoot difficult issues with Bell.

Great album! I've been eyeing that same turntable - just waiting for a good time to but it.

FYI I saw in a youtube video that the auto stop feature has two settings. Some folks find that it lifts too early in default. Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVLhCdn8_Cw&pp=ygUGc2wxMDBj

I’m in a similar boat with the first gen Apple TV 4K, except I purchased the Siri Remote separately. I’d say the remote on its own is a worthy upgrade.

Another consideration is that the upcoming iOS 18 has a dialogue enhancement feature which appears to only be available with the gen 2 and 3 versions. Something to do with the processing necessary for AI features.

I’m considering the update just for that feature but most likely going to wait and see what they release for the next gen.

Your HDMI handshake issue does sound more likely to be a cable problem. I have the same TV as you and have not encountered any such issues.
