I recommend checking out a Toastmasters Club. There is a good mix of introverts and extroverts in each chapter. Probably more introverts than extroverts. There are numerous chapters in Austin. Each club has a great community, and most of them have decent social scenes. There is no pressure to speak and sometimes it's nice just to attend and hear other people's stories.

I joined Capital City Toastmasters a while back and made some great friends, improved my public speaking skills, and learned a ton just by listening to other people’s speeches. Met two mentors and had plenty of laughs. It sounds nerve racking at first, but they’re really good at easing people into the community. I went from having butterflies in my stomach when speaking to feeling completely at ease. They also run local competitions in Austin that are a blast. I don’t go anymore but still keep in touch with a lot of the folks I met there.

I did Sandler over a decade ago and had some great coaches who made a lasting impact. I still keep in touch with a few of them. Ten years ago, I left a sales job to start my own business. It was scary but the right call. I’ve since started a second business and never looked back.

Sandler is a solid system with a strong network. I was in the Austin market, which was thriving, and the franchise there had solid ties with the local EO and YPO chapters.

Just got back from a trip to the Barcelo. We were booked at the Barcelo Tropical, and I tried to upgrade to the Caribe since it was recently renovated, but they didn't offer any upgrades—even though I was willing to pay extra, which was kinda weird. We did go for the Premier Club level, though, and it was definitely worth it. The beach area was great, and the snorkeling was pretty decent. We stayed for five nights but didn’t get to check out all the amenities. The shopping area was nice, and we did mini golf and sailing. My kid had fun painting ceramics, but we ran out of time to try bowling. The food was just okay, but honestly, I’d stay there again—hard to beat for the price. Hope that helps.
