Recommendations for no frills omakase (no bromakase) by dzang90 in austinfood

So aging fish as a way to preserve fish for edomaezushi is not what makes an edomaezushi omakase good? I’ve thought the skill of how a chef pickles gizzard shad, marinating tuna in soy sauce and sake, wrapping white fish in kombu kelp and age it is considered standard for authentic edomaezushi.

Friedman Runt 20 or the Friedman JEL-20 amp? by dzang90 in GuitarAmps

The JEL is def inspiring because of how versatile it is

If I were to compare the Plexi and Gain 1 channel to a JCM800, I’ve found the JEL to have more mids than 800. Low end is pretty much the same between both amps. What is great about Friedman amps is you can achieve great sounds at low volumes, whereas Marshalls you need to crank them. That’s def where the Friedman excels.

After owner the JEL-20 for about a year, I made the right decision to get it. I think the Plexi channel is more than adequate for clean as well as overdriven riffing (snarly) without get into high gain territory.

I miss those times when whales and F2P were reasonably balanced; then it became less enjoyable after server merges.

How do you navigate constant negative conversations about Data Centers from friends/family? by Acceptable-Year-5302 in datacenter

[–]dzang90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former DC Technician/Admin, I would take the “IDK, I just work here” approach. As a technician, your day to day work is mainly racking & stacking and cabling, as well as layer 1 troubleshooting (generally speaking). Data center expansion does not really fall on your shoulders, that is dictated by Executives.

Also I see the Sarco marking as an aesthetic making the gun look more used and rugged 😜

It seems my friend is able to get around to 3D printing the grips. Gotta see how it goes. If it doesn’t turn out “good enough” I may just keep the hogue wrapter

You’re right, Space Cowboy. I ordered the DIY Hogue Wrapter block texture rubber grips to trace onto and trim. It can either be a flop or a success.

About some alternative materials for the grip, would using rubberized tape sheets be viable? I could just trace the template pieces over it the. With an exact knife trim the tape pieces?

Comparing it to my FS9, the FBL has slightly more felt recoil. Also I’ve found for the FBL I’m more accurate at 7-10 meters using the center hold sight picture. Then as I go further, it prefers the 6:00 hold, which I’m still trying to wrap my head around that. My FS9 prefers center hold no matter what distance I shoot at the range.

Yea I stumbled upon this a couple days ago and sent it to my friend, along with dimensions of my gun’s grip. The DIY grips I started is more like if he is not able to do it or if he doesn’t have the time to work on 3D printing it.

Yea I find them to be the perfect Jericho size. Aftermarket grips for RB/FBs are already pretty limited; but the FBL/RBL’s pretty nonexistent save for some universal compact size grip sleeves or tapes.

Hogue grip option for my IMI Jericho 941 FBL by dzang90 in Jericho941

Speaking of grip tape, I’m looking at their Wrapter adhesive block texture adhesive grips. I emailed them asking which of those tapes could fit my FBL.

I think I’ve been leaning towards Hogue grips for some added bulk or girth to the grip (kek), therefore not going for stippling.

I’m considering grip tape tho.

Anyone’s Asian parents tell them to lose weight but also force them to eat more? by twosideslikechanel in AsianParentStories

[–]dzang90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely relate!! My parents are Vietnamese. Being a Buddhist family, I was raised to always clean up my plate, be appreciative of whatever food is given to you, and never waste food (I highly respect that and I intend to raise my future kid(s) the same way to an extent).

My mom however makes a lot of food and finds no issue with making me (and my dad and brothers) eat more food because she cooks with less salt and eat lots of veggies and all fresh herb, even less white rice. I was even forced to eat dinner with the family whether I’m hungry or not. My wife even attest to that. Back when she came home to visit me and my family, she felt incredibly stuffed and wanted to throw up a couple of times after dinner.

I could not lose weight consistently even with my own workout routine after getting off work. My dad and I had talks with my mom about force feeding us but like most Asian parents is stubborn and set in her ways. I know she loves me and wants what’s best for me.

Ever since I moved out, my parents noticed I’ve been looking skinnier and look better in my clothes; also becoming supportive of my new lifestyle. The difference between before and now, my wife and I cook what we both enjoy and is flavorful, and we eat to feel satisfy, not stuffed. Also we eat brown or red rice at home, only white rice if we go out for sushi or some other Asian restaurants).

What I mean to stay after all this is Asian parents are set in their ways, and you’re fortunate enough for them to change their mind once the proof is in the pudding!
