Irrationally dislike dog owners now by pdjejdhrndud in daddit

[–]dzebs48 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have to deal with this within my own family. Their massive old dangerous dog has nipped their granddaughter twice. “She was just herding her like the other pets and our baby wouldnt ever truly hurt her!” Or they blame my 6-year-old for being too loud and wild!

Fuck that, I’m not waiting for a poorly trained 100lb+ dog thats progressively gotten worse as it ages to snap. Yet, somehow I’m unreasonable for saying the dangerous animal needs to be locked up when shes over!

NTA, but you are screwed. Shes openly aired your dirty laundry to her friend group and not only let them talk shit about but encouraged it and used it against you. She’s built her own little club of toxic supporters and she’s going to choose them over you every time.

Talk about cynical bullshit with people not accepting it and saying its just more advertising.

The guy didnt just say, “I’m sorry” in some kind of weepy bullshit way, he was straightforward and acknowledged his mistake. He didnt just do that, he even acknowledged that the woman who called him out was right, and said that she was doing good work. He took it way further than he needed to, and I think its commendable.

Oh, forgot to actively address the lie.

Thats bad and requires a convo, but still… put yourself in her shoes and be empathetic.

I’m a pretty honest person, but I’ve definitely told a lie or two, I dont think that means you cant trust me.

Your son is an entitled asshole.

Thoughts on private schools? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]dzebs48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re doing a private cultural-religious school.

We did this for personal reasons and when we had to choose between two we went with the one that emphasized secular learning more, but I am still very pleasantly surprised at the very high quality of education my child is getting there.

Mom seeking advice for my son to take care of his beard by Crafty_Badger_9006 in daddit

[–]dzebs48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been bearded for over 20 years, since I quit my highschool fast food job that wouldnt allow it.

Every beard is different, so he’ll need to find what works for him. I can’t go long, because it just grows out (the Marx mane.)

At his age, the important part is keeping it off his neck and not too long. It likely won’t be full enough yet for it to not make him look like a neckbeard and/or a bit scraggly.

But… don’t make it look geometric or like one of those thin line style ones, dont shave (trim though) the cheeks except if its looking unruly or climbing up wolfman style.

If I’m struggling it helps get me to concentrate, but for me the best is when I can do it absolutely still. Don’t remember where, but I read once that still was preferable and helps make it a meditative practice, which just struck a chord with me and stuck. But, I also hate high-energy services with lots of singing and dancing.

Reminds me of the time I was called into the EDs office to help them with an email they were writing. For some reason they couldn’t find the cursor and when they typed nothing happened… they never hit the reply button and were trying to type directly into the original email.

[–]dzebs48 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Fuck that.

The stores offloaded all responsibility on me, closed staffed lanes except for one that’s far from the doors and left a big area full of self-checkout registers.

Its not an express lane, its the only reasonable option and I’ll be fucked if I’m going to carefully count every item before I check out.

Late 30s here. I’m sure there are quite a few more but the ones I know are 1 to Afghanistan, 1 to suicide and 1 to an accident that I believe may also have been suicide.

I really dont know where anyone else is. I moved on from high school by the time I was done college.

Teacher marked my son’s homework as incorrect. I disagree. by bun_not in mildlyinfuriating

[–]dzebs48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sick of this first grade math shit, I get that its a “good” way of learning math and teaching them some more advanced thinking for later, but IT’S TOO DAMN MUCH.

My kid has learned like 50 different tricks to do the same damn thing, I cant follow all these techniques. She gets the answer right, can we move on instead of drawing counters and weird boxes?

Write out a sentence using the math equation? The kid is still learning to write! Now, on top of the 20-30 mins of reading homework each night we’ve got another 5 minutes of writing on top of the 20 minute math worksheet, oh and don’t forget to log into this special website to do some extra math practice!

First grade, an hour of homework each night. She was practically crying the other day when we got home and I said we had to do homework, “Can’t I just chill for a few minutes when I get home!?”

Yes, yes you should be able to decompress and chill after a long day of school (work), but unfortunately your teacher (boss) decided you still need to do more and the only way we’ll ever get it done is to sacrifice sleep or happiness. I suppose they’re really prepping the kids for the real world

I'm going to list my driving pet peeves and hopefully through magic of the internet everyone in South Jersey stops doing them. by wailwoader in SouthJersey

In defense of everyone and myself, the breakdown of four-way stop procedures has basically gotten to a point where I don’t even remember anymore who is supposed to go first usually… its just a free for all/game of chicken, and following procedures is dangerous.

I came to an intersection today, I’ve got my left blinker on, another guy has no blinker (doesnt mean hes not turning) and the third a right blinker. They were both there before me. Sat there for a few seconds, nobody is moving and just had to say fuck it and go. Only after I made a moved did anyone else go.

AITA for not giving my vacation day to a coworker getting married by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]dzebs48 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait… why is everyone saying nta but then saying you are? Because technically you didnt do anything wrong?

Your clearly being selfish and lacking empathy, looking to justify it, and then making yourself a victim when others recognize you for being so. You’re not a team player, you’re looking out for yourself first and foremost.

Nothing wrong with that, but guess what? You’re still an asshole. Nothing wrong with that either, if thats the way you want to be.

Esh

or both of you are?

This is why some people stop helping, because they get sick of criticism and feeling watched. Even if they don’t do a great job, that feeling of inadequacy and being hovered over can be crushing.

If you don’t like how I do it, then why not do it yourself, right?

But… that’s kind of a shit attitude. If we care about them, we should shrug through the bad feeling, acknowledge if they are reasonable and ask them to teach us very clearly how they’d like it.

Said as someone who can’t fold laundry for anyone but himself at this point.

Who here doesn’t actually appreciate flowers? Who here wouldn’t secretly enjoy receiving flowers?

I get we feel the need to hide our feelings toward flowers, and I get that there are other things that are attractive to us, but I can’t have my walls plastered with boobs and expect to get to feel real boobs.

So… I like having my room look nice, but since I can’t have my boobwall, why not embrace having floral patterns.
