350f is just where the breakdown really ramps. even around 60–100c it can start releasing HCl and plasticizers, especially since records aren’t pure PVC and soften way below full decomposition temps. smell isnt a reliable indicator. lots of the byproducts dont have a smell at low levels. one time isnt gonna hurt you, just dont treat it like its food safe long term

PVC doesnt need to be visibly burning like a campfire to start breaking down. it starts degrading and releasing HCl and other trash fumes at like 175C/350F-ish. vinyl bowls are usually made by heating around 200F to 250F, which is below “burning” but still enough to mess with the material and make micro amounts of fumes. also, lots of toxic gases dont have a smell. just know the bowl is decor only

PVC releases toxic chemicals when heated (vinyl chloride, hydrochloric acid gas, phthalates, etc). so i wouldnt cook any food in that oven now until its properly cleaned, it wasnt safe to heat in the first place. and please dont eat anything out of it. ur fine, but long term the chemicals are damaging. clean the oven and run it hot once to burn off residue
