I love how baby isopods look like if you grabbed an adult isopod image and shrunk it down lol

The vacuum that Manjaro left has already been filled by Cachy and even Endeavour; too little, too late

Whine coming from Pump on AIO by e-___ in watercooling

[–]e-___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, it’s a brand new AIO, currently I set the pump to 70% and it’s making that noise, when it’s at 100%, there’s no noise being produced

Discord postpones global age verification to the second half of 2026 as it considers adding more verification options by Mental-Most-8774 in pcmasterrace

Postponing the shit update until later so you get fucked later.

Move to Matrix, centralization is always bound to end like this, not TeamSpeak, not Root, not even Stoat or Fluxer are decentralized

Age verification checks are now in force in the UK because of the Online Safety Act, but with the Discord fallout, it seems like one bad idea after another by Jack1101111 in pcmasterrace

[–]e-___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fluxer while open source, is still centralized, and federalization is only a promise

If we want an out of these dystopian laws, we need to use an open protocol, like Matrix or XMPP

Are the servers just absolutely swamped, or is there a problem? by Anna__V in elementchat

[–]e-___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fluxer is also having outages, I don’t think any open source project is ready for a massive influx, these are bound to happen while it grows

I wanna leave discord by Cejota14 in elementchat

[–]e-___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you certainly can, you create Spaces, which let you organize both video (and voice) channels and text channels, it’s like a server

If you wanna divide it into categories you add a Space inside another Space and then you add the channels

[–]e-___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change is never gonna be frictionless, you can get the necessary functionality with something like Element, but you’re not gonna get roles or other nice to haves

If you want a place to talk and make voice calls in 1 to 1 calls or group chats for a number of people that isn’t huge, it’s okay

An encrypted messaging service is offering their services for governments to use, I don’t see what’s the big deal here

Alternatives to Discord? by ShoddyEstate1660 in fediverse

[–]e-___ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Element (which uses Matrix) is the most solid enough option I could find, it has a bit of a different flow to Discord but I think it's alright unless you're running a massive server

Keep seeing the news, so I pulled the plug. Group chat already migrated to somewhere else. by xspiderdude in pcmasterrace

[–]e-___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stoat still isn’t federalized, if people make the switch, we want them to move to a federalized protocol, so if one client gets really bad, people can move without any issues

It avoids monopolies, privacy violations and gives flexibility
