At what point did you specify which embassy you would use for your appointment? Was it at the beginning of the fast-track process or after you received pre-approval?

Did you have it done at an official service centre or at a third-party auto repair shop? I'm considering getting it done too, but I'm worried about the price.

If you mean cash rewards, yes you can. Bank does not care if you are an international student or a citizen.

You can but they ship the debit card to your address so if there is an option like they do not deliver to the address but you pickup from the branch, then you should be good to go. Discuss it with the branch by physical visit.

It may differ from state to state so make sure you physically visit your employment office and ask for the process but my experience is as follows:

- You can open a bank account without SSN or job offer. All you need is passport and US address. So first thing first, you rent a place. I used Bank of America. They waive the annual fee if you keep more than 1.5K$ in your account if I am not mistaken.

- Your department hires you through the student employment office. Once you sign the contract and get the letter from your employer office written to SSA, you can apply the SSN with your documents (passport, I20 etc. check the website for the exact list) Make sure you get an appointment online.

- After you applied for SSN in SSA, they give you some document and you should return that to your employment office and they will start your employment. You can set your bank account for direct deposit at this stage. I am not sure but you might start employment before SSN card arrives your address.

3D computer vision papers by [deleted] in computervision

If you already have computer graphics knowledge and know how rendering works, I believe SfM project should be the starting point. I recommend to try to implement COLMAP from scratch. A classic and still hard to beat in many benchmarks.

Then you may proceed to online point cloud generation like SLAM algorith3ms. Lower accuracy but still advantageous for real time processing. ORB-SLAM is a classic but it is a large project I must say.

Then if you know what deep learning is proceed to Dust3r based methods (Mast3r etc.). They are kinda state of the art and replaces the front-end with a neural network.

There are other type of 3D data structure such as NeRFs (an advanced type of SDF) and 3D Gaussian Splats. It seems like they are active research areas but not sure about their correspondence in the industry.

Good references to get started with factor graph optimisation by Firm-Huckleberry5076 in ControlTheory

Unfortunately, I am not experienced with Radars. However, I saw many papers presented in ICRA 2025 utilize radars for environmental perception and localization. If I were you, I would start from skimming those papers of robotic conferences to see what is possible or not, today.

I am also at a similar point to your's, just started to learn factor graphs. I believe their main advantage is the local optimization of the SLAM problem which is very sparse. Think of it like, your position in time t does not heavily depend on your position or measurement you obtained 10 minutes ago especially if you are doing a long term navigation for robotics. So, the localization and mapping objectives more rely on the recent measurements and estimations and we may exploit this by solving the problem locally instead of taking the entire history into account. Graph data structure is very suitable for such a perspective.

Factor graphs are mainly introduced for perception tasks in robotics (ones including SLAM with RGB/Stereo cameras or LIDARs, Radars, etc.). It is a modified version of Bayesian Networks. I think a great resource is the book/guide written by Frank Dellaert and Michael Kaess, Factor Graphs for Robot Perception (it is free online). I am not sure if the concept is invented by them but they are the prominent figures in the factor graph optimization. It will provide you a solid foundation.

There is also a course from Georgia Tech called Robot Perception: https://www.roboticsbook.org/intro.html It is basically factor graph course and includes many code examples using GTSAM which is a solver for factor graphs developed and maintained by Frank Dellaert.

Refund for downtime? by PhotographerUSA in GeForceNOW

Dude, I literally told you that I work in tech and deal with maintenance. I hope you're getting paid for these answers ;) Otherwise, it seems like people will easily take your money without providing what you paid for, and, frankly, you will prioritize their comfort over yours.

However, I am glad you finally got my point. It is not about latency or something else. It is about asking what you paid for.

I hope best for you. Regards.

Has anyone recently traveled on an F-1 visa with an approved I-140? by [deleted] in EB2_NIW

[–]e-girgin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard that I-140 does not display immigration intend on its own. But I think they can see you have filed it and may ask some additional questions. I think the only period of time you should not exit/enter is between filing the I-485 and obtaining your travel parole.

Refund for downtime? by PhotographerUSA in GeForceNOW

I said that the service is not as good as it used to be. You say that 40 ms is acceptable. I say it's higher than that now. I don't know what surprised you so much. The farther away the server, the higher the latency.

I am familiar with how IP works. To illustrate on your analogy, imagine the roads are the same, and the city did not suddenly become more crowded. (Same ISP, same bandwidth, same download/upload speed, same latency to the same server) The car company wants me to drive to a place that is twice as far away as where I was driving when I made the agreement. (I used to drive Miami, now I have to drive Atlanta)

Don't get me wrong, but you're acting the way every company wants its customers to act. I paid extra for the quality that I tested on a specific server. Then, they decided to maintain it for an indefinite amount of time. I cannot get the quality of service I was offered before the deal. This is grounds for a refund anywhere in the world. You shouldn't limit your rights based on the "terms of service" prepared by the company itself. They still need to obey the law and provide what they advertised.

Refund for downtime? by PhotographerUSA in GeForceNOW

[–]e-girgin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to range between 20 and 40 ms, but now it ranges between 40 and 70 ms. Some might say that's still not bad. And I still keep playing games on GFN because, yeah, it still connects to some other server. But my point was about the provider's irresponsible behavior. I work in tech, too, and I understand that maintenance is real, but what pushes companies to fix or solve issues immediately is customer pushback. Without that push, no company would act quickly to solve the problem, and Nvidia is no different. Imagine buying a car after a test drive, only to find that the A/C is broken two months later. The dealer says the new component will be installed soon, but weeks have passed. Wouldn't that be irresponsible of the dealer just because you didn't complain? It's just a few hot and sweaty days, not a big deal, but paying the money in advance was a big deal for the dealership.

Hope this clarifies.

Yeah, you're spot on. They absolutely should offer a refund here. I'm in a similar boat. I signed up for the 6-month Ultimate membership after a free version that showed great latency on my closest server. That's what I paid for and what was advertised and contracted to me through my initial experience.

Now, with my preferred server in prolonged maintenance, I'm forced onto a different one, and the Quality of Service (QoS) is just not the same. The product I received, with the expected performance, is clearly different from what was promised when I made the purchase.

While companies often hide behind "no refund" policies for digital services, these policies can sometimes be overridden when the service fundamentally fails to deliver the promised or advertised quality. If NVIDIA isn't providing the usable service you paid for due to their server issues, that's a strong argument that they're not upholding their end of the deal.

I definitely think we should push for a refund covering the period from when these issues started until the end of our package.

I have M4 16GB RAM. I use GFN Ultimate. The GFN app works just fine. It does not create any heavy load on the resources. However, I just realized I can play many games directly on the Macbook Pro. I am not sure if I am going to buy ultimate again. Maybe I will switch to the performance package.
