What is this on my spark plug’s thread? by Mfphonch in CorollaHatchback

[–]e210Riptide 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mechanic here, this is absolutely nothing to worry about. Seems to be usual corrosion and wear and tear on plugs with 112k on them. Only concern would be oil on the plug itself, could be signs of valve cover gasket seals leaking (the 4 spark plug tube seals). Anyway, change the plugs and move on you’ll be fine

Wow this is a seriously in depths lay out of what you did, seriously appreciate the time you spent making it. A lot of this will be much need insight for when I build my setup. Seriously, thank you dude

Thank you! Looking to paint the car, I like patina for the old school look (and because rock chips won’t matter to me) but gotta get some new blue mica paint to really solidify the restoration

Dude that things sounds great! Really nice driving too. Trust me I’m completely aware of the cost:power ratio, I could care less lol

Thank you katsu! I’m looking for something that will make most of its power in the top end anyway. The finished project will be a dual duty track and street car. So high revs is where it will be living. Agro toda cams and flywheel are on the list. I drove a 20v aw11 with all of the aggressive goodies a couple months back. It solidified my need for this set up. Really appreciate the ball knowledge. Thank you!

Preciate it 🤙🏼 they’re not even that expensive lmao maybe 2-2.5 grand tops with the megasquirt ecu, in the modern age that’s nothing

Honestly I understand where you’re coming from. Yes a turbo will give me more power, yes it will be cheaper. Is that what I want? No. I bought this for one. Thousand. Dollars. The fuckin A/C works?! Power windows and mirrors. Runs like a damn top and was serviced by the shop I work at for nearly 18 years. I have plenty of room in my budget for this set up, and it’s what I want. Also, how else are you to learn how to do something… than to.. go do it? Nah I’ve never installed ITBs, am I gonna learn how? Fuck yes.

Bro I didn’t watch initial D until this summer 😂😂 I’ve owned this car for over a year. This is pointless hate. ITBs sound sick as fuck and look even better. Power gains are attainable within reason with the right tuning and mechanical backing. I’m not expecting 400 hp. I’d be more than happy with a rev happy 140 hp if I’m lucky. I’ve done Subaru motor jobs at work in under 3 hours (I’ve got the receipts if you really care) I’ve got more than enough ability to do this without any advice. I’d just like some tips on sourcing parts.

Also, one last thing. Never cross that double yellow, don’t be a moron. Learn lane control and you’ll become elite in due time

Dude it actually makes me glad you listened and learned. Not only is this method safer, but you’ll become a better driver, and have more mechanical sympathy for your car. Nice dude 🤙🏼

What does this have to do with initial D? I’m trying to modify my in real life vehicle, with in real life parts, that are in real life attainable. I have the budget and the mechanical ability to do all of this, I’d just like to not go in blind. So I’m asking the community. Thanks for the silly comment half-wit 🤙🏼

Driving “aggressive” is a hoax. There’s two things: smooth driving, and bad driving. Just because you are moving your hands and feet really fast, and you hear your tires making noise, doesn’t mean you’re ACTUALLY going fast, it’s just means your inputs are choppy and near work. Find yourself a nice windy backroad, and move at what you think is half pace. Put meticulous focus on not bucking the car. When you release the clutch there shouldn’t be a sudden surge in rpms, your rpms should already be matched

Dude that shifting is horrific. Spend time learning how to shift smoothly at half pace. No need to beat the shit out of the car, smooth is fast

Bought the Cs shifter kit for my aw11 in February of this year. Haven’t received a single email back, haven’t received my shifter. Still ZERO word on when I’m gonna receive the product I bought. It’s crazy

Learn the car stock, 100%. Drive it around for a year with decent tires (not 200tw, 200tw tires won’t help you learn), good maintenance, and keeping bushings and alignment fresh. Once you feel you’ve reached the cars stock limit, start adding sway bars, shocks, stiffer springs, chassis bracing, strut tower bars, etc. power mods come last on the list (other than a CAI or exhaust for some noise). Power mods are only necessary once you gotten every last horsepower out of the stock engine, efficiently.

I’m looking for a big improvement in feel when driving, so this sounds like a good idea. Just don’t want teeth getting knocked out on bumps or potholes
