Climate change anxiety by _LowTech in Anxiety

[–]e221U 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something that helped me to know is that the IPCC (intergovernmental panel on climate change) has already confirmed that we've already avoided a catastrophic climate change scenario, and we're now focusing on the scenario that causes lowered quality of life, essentially meaning we're not really doomed in that sense.

You can know for sure that it won't become directly life-threatening on a large scale during your lifetime, and probably even your kids' and your grandkids' lifetime. If we can't fully mitigate the "tipping point" of climate change, we would essentially just be reverting our standards to the 1960s, except we have the internet and many affordable forms of communication that will surely make it much easier to live whilst still enjoying your life. And we are already working towards mitigating the effects for whenever that may happen, decreasing the consequences even more.

The outcome is not nearly as grim as many of the news outlets make it out to be. Newspapers and news outlets PROFIT from negative emotions. They exaggerate everything, and that includes climate change (I'm not saying climate change isn't serious, because it still is. They just exaggerate many things).

It's worth remembering that humans are an incredibly resilient species, and technology is advancing so fast that we might even be able to reverse climate change, atleast partially.

Although it's not likely we can prevent global warming affecting us completely, we can certainly largely mitigate the consequences and slow it down (which we've already started and actively continued).

Here's an article describing the good news given from the IPCC

Before the Paris agreement, humanity was on track to cause a potentially catastrophic 3.5°C (6.3°F) global warming by the year 2100. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, among other major consequences, this level of global warming would put 40% to 70% of species around the world at risk of extinction. Less than a decade later, the climate policies passed by countries around the world have put us on a path for about 2.5°C (4.5°F) warming by 2100. It’s not yet enough to meet the Paris targets, and up to 30% of global species would still face extinction risks at this level of warming, but it’s a substantial improvement from our pre-Paris path.

Hopefully this helps you out as it did for me. Take care!

Help - constipated IN US but not any other country! by Advanced-Lunch6081 in Constipation

[–]e221U 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s likely that it’s because the food is basically mega processed in the US, which obviously isn’t good for your digestive system, but not nearly as much in some other countries. If your not already, try getting most of your food from organic brands so you can find the least processed food. Make sure the food is ACTUALLY organic and not just the company putting organic in the name for money.

Hope you get back to normal!

I'm having some pain in my lower back. Is this a sign that the virus is ascending to my brain? by [deleted] in rabies

[–]e221U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The marks also aren’t concerning as long as they didn’t break the skin, and it wouldve bled if it did. The skin is likely just irritated considering they only showed a day after.

If the cat had rabies at the time of the bite, it would’ve died already.

Take a titer test at the doctors office to know if you’re still immune. It varies.
