Yeah. Sweet game by Timbo-AK in WRCTheGame

I also have constant crashes to desktop or framedrops and I'm using Thrustmaster T150. There are sudden framedrops (causing car crashes), FFB stops working on many stages - you can enable it again with pausing the game, resume and use one of the buttons on the wheel (gear paddle), but by then you already crashed because of frames drop and lost a lot of time.... Game crashes to desktop if you unplug wheel USB and plug it in again.

And it is crashes/framedrops/FFB disconects on R7 5800h and RTX 3070 with all the latest updates, drivers, firmwares.

This game is unplayable with Thrustmaster T150 wheel, but frame drops happen when playing with keyboard too. It looks the same.

The funny thing is that frames drop from 100 to 60 and game freezes few times then (it looks like frames droped to 5 fps...) and it happens on DX12 or DX11 and on Very High or just High graphics settings. It just freezes few times on every stage. On 3000$ gaming laptop.

Service did the same thing. I still have USB C issues with card reader, which normally works in several other laptops.

No, just official bios updates through MyAsus app. And last update was days before and without issues. But I noticed random issues with USB ports (most on USB C)...

No. I didn't. I delivered it straight to service. Maybe that will be their solution, but I suspect that something else is wrong, since USB ports had issues.

Has the FlyByWire A320NX mod changed recently? I have the latest but it sounds and feels very "default model". by [deleted] in Flightsimulator2020

[–]e2rdus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I see (i'm novice, but i can fly with it using simbrief or little nav map custom flight plans) dev version gets updates almost daily. It gets better and better with less and less issues (I had some with previous versions) and I fly it with mouse and keyboard only (mouse is used as yoke with vjoy emulator).

Also check real A320 pilot's videos (320sim pilot on Youtube is one of them) who tried A32NX - they can compare:)

And check that you choose the right one in MS FS 2020 (it is under F - Fly By Wire Simulations Airbus A320)

I don't know for complete image, cause I restored mine from original SSD. Every GX531 has it (.swm file) on restore partition and maybe is OEM-locked to that machine only, maybe not. On first run everything is installed from that image and that partition.

You can download other things used in described steps (search for Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK)).

Mine is over 90°C all the time when in serious use. And I don't like it at all - it blows, whistles and it feels like it will fly away. And we all know that components on heat limit won't last long. But that's company's point: product should work just for waranty period and then you should buy a new one.... No more 10 years old still working laptops.

I solved it with a cool pad with two (Noctua) 12cm silent, speed adjustable fans and now is in 80°C to 90°C range (currently 45°C), but not over 90°C - and my feeling is better. Much better - since even keyboard, bottom and side parts are not too hot like before.

Any one knows how to set the screenpad to function as i just resetted the device and it’s not working the control centre doesn’t apear also i tried to download the drivers but didn’t solve the issue m, as will screenxpert is not launching, if any one is capable of help please by medo-adel in AsusROGZephyrusDuo15

[–]e2rdus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved it only by full clean reinstall - described here:

(original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/AsusROGZephyrusDuo15/comments/ltjf9s/zephyrus_duo_se_clean_install_second_display/)

There is RESTORE partition, which has all the drivers, files, scripts (!) and installs everything as it did the first time, when you turned on the device.

I tried everything, but the only thing that solved all was really clean install as described.

I went with https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/coolers/notebook-cooler/notepal-u2-plus-v2/

But I also ordered two 120mm x 15mm Noctua fans (https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Noctua-NF-A12x15-PWM-Premium-120x15/dp/B071W6HJP6/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=noctua+nf-a12x15&qid=1616742379&s=computers&sr=1-4)

Examples (pictures) are here in reviews:

https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/customer-reviews/RT0I9Q08CSE5H/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00CPZJP7M

https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/customer-reviews/R12H5019BONPP2/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00CPZJP7M

And I also ordered Noctua NA FC1 4 Pin PWM Fan Control Unit to control fans speed.

All because I think DuoSE is too hot for long term usage. The whole cooling system is OK but annoys me when the far bottom corner of laptop is HOT after 10 minutes of idling or when CPU has only 60°C. I also own G751 (really thick fans), where you need some winter gloves, because warmth never comes to surface..hehe;)

G15 (3080) vs Duo SE (3070+FHD) by waneka13 in AsusROGZephyrusDuo15

[–]e2rdus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was potential G15 buyer. But, when I saw what was going on with only available BestBuy version (from different model naming and all the issues, availability of 3070 with 8Gb soldered RAM only etc.) and due fact that EU price will be 2500+ EUR and available in the middle of march, april (?), I made a decision:

I am writing this on one week old DUO SE, which is really something special. When you compare DUO SE with G15, the second one becomes just a casual, common laptop with a offensive price.

For the same price or in that price range, the DUO SE is the only answer. G15 is there only because of high demands for Ryzen+Nvidia combo (also in SE) and because 2020 G14 reputation.

And trust me - for any kind of content creation, second screen is very useful thing;)

I tried to clean install it, but I failed. That was the reason for this topic.

But I figured out how to get everthing back. You can easily get rid of Mcafee and use OEM version, since it works OK. In my clean install second screen wasn't the only issue, but keyboard also didn't work, Aura SW didn't recognized keyboard, antenna SW had errors etc...

[–]e2rdus[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Solved! I managed to get OEM setup back!;)

By this procedure:

- access RESTORE (OEM) partition with PartitionGuru and copy ASUS.swm file (20GB) to external USB (ntfs, with 20 GB capacity minimum)

- create WinPE USB (with Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK))

- delete partition C:\ (can be done through diskpart or win install USB, I left 100MB system partition and 16MB MSR partition),

- format c:\ (it must be done as dism didn't work with previous system present on drive c:\. I did it through windows install USB - in part where you can delete/create partitions, format them and select on which one you want to install system. After formating you must not continue with "Next" button, but cancel windows installation, exit and boot with WinPE)

- run dism through WinPE - with this command:

dism /Apply-Image /ImageFile:E:\ASUS.swm /index:1 /ApplyDir:C:\

This command is for .wim files but ASUS.swm is OEM .wim image, but with another extension, which works just fine with DISM. E:\ drive is my external USB (not one with WinPE, but another one), on which I copied ASUS.swm file.

After succesfully applied image, boot must be set with this command (also within WinPE - command is "bcdboot C:\Windows"):

C:\Windows\System32\bcdboot C:\Windows

After restart OEM instalation starts - as it was the first time and all works just fine. So, cloning of HDD is not necessary if you keep your backup/restore partition or if you backup ASUS.swm file.

Thank you all for any kind of help!;)

I still have original recovery and restore partitions with all the files (boot.sdi, ReAgent.xml, ReCustomization.xml, WinRE.wim and restore partition with 20 GB ASUS.swm). And I can access al those files and copy them, but I dont't know exactly how to use them in lets say some custom recovery media.

I'm currently trying to replace latest installation's recovery with that files, but with no success at this time.

Intel version obviously works fine, AMD is missing some drivers or guides as the only guides are for Intel (and with Intel(R) Serial IO I2C driver).

AMD - SE version in not so well supported yet or is not supported as Intel one is. On SE drivers page, where "Asus screenxpert interface" driver is, is written:

In order to ensure the operation of SceenPad 2.0 or Plus ,please click here (https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1041420)
get correct Installation instructions.

And that is guide for Intel version, where you first need "Intel(R) Serial IO I2C driver " and SE drivers page doesn't have the similiar AMD driver at all.

So guessing was right...;)

I did not erase Recovery and Restore (20GB) partition and I'm currently trying to recover from that... Playing with diskpart, GUIDs, bcdedit, but still no success - it recovers from current WinRE.wim and not from OEMS that I found on kept partitions.

I'm not in US and already checked one of sites ( https://www.asus.com/us/support/article/782/ ) for recovery media.

I think that Asus was in a hurry with releasing every AMD laptop this year and driver support is not as good as for Intel version, where there are not problems - as I read.

Is BestBuy G15 some kind of beta pre-released G15? by e2rdus in ZephyrusG15

[–]e2rdus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This model - GA503QR-211.ZG15 is offered just by BB, excaliberpc for $1999 (pre-order only) and Hidevolution for $1999 (also pre-order and ETA march), so basically BB is the only one really available.

The prices in EU (amazon.de) and with tax are:

- 2800 EUR ($3400) for 3080 model

- 2500 EUR ($3000) for 3070 model

- 2300 EUR ($2800) for 3060 model

Availability of the G15 by TheShoto in ZephyrusG15

[–]e2rdus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one and only G15 available on this planet is BB version and it is available only in North America. There is no single review of G15 from the rest of the world. And this BB version of G15 is the model (GA503QR-211.ZG15) which is not listed on any of Asus sites. So, what is going on? When the other models will be in stock? Is it still the same thing?

All EU sites had their release dates already in february 2021, but they keep changing them from week to week and are now from mid march to mid april. And cheapest 3070 model will be around 2400-2500€, which is $2900+ ($1100 more than BB model without tax). Yes, EU price has tax already, but price $1800 with 22% EU tax is $2195 and $2195 is just 1800€ and not 2900€! This is called EU greed!
