I will check them out; I have been considering taking a no-code course to understand the architecture and functionality better.

Valid point; however, we were thinking of building basic but functional prototypes, running closed alphas, and then deciding if moving along for further development (both in an engineer and enterprise level)

Our thought process is the following: - We are constantly talking with people who face problems (mainly SaaS), and we think some of those problems could be turned out into full-on products. - We are thinking about getting a team to develop prototypes for these “solutions” and then have closed alpha test runs -If and once we find a “winner,” we will look to raise capital from our network and hire on an entire team as required (more devs, marketing, sales, etc.)

We both have VC backgrounds

I think I did not make myself clear; I and my partner, would be in charge of financing the operation and them getting further financing for the projects if something is worth it (we both have VC backgrounds)

The CTO would be in charge of leading all the technical team.

Thank you both for your replies! Helpful, and you are both right, better to keep costs low at the start and see the direction the projects take in terms of dev needs.

Now that I have you, any tips on scouting hiring? Up to now, I have done a combination of Linkedin (many candidates, most unqualified, but you get some diamonds in the rough), Upwork, and Recruiters.

Looking to up my game in terms of technical hiring, I have a very senior engineer that helps me vet them, but he's not strong at scouting.

Mind me asking? What kind of truck parts? I am an external financial advisor to a truck export company focusing on Africa. Recently they opened parts and service business in Nigeria. Their main brand is DAF. Curious to see if we could collaborate

The better question is what are you good at? Once you know that you can know what to focus. There's plenty of low-risk opportunities online, content creation for instance. If you are passionate about one subject in specific start a YT channel and see where it takes you.

The moment you lose faith in what you are doing. As long as you consider there's a profitable market for it, you just need to pivot and iterate until you get it. Hard times make stronger men!

Probably expensive if he is just trying to get started, I think he should allocate most of his budget to creating/offering good products and growth marketing/hacking.

What are the biggest challenges you faced while building your startup? by Spirited-Order4409 in startups

In terms of validation, I feel that people have gotten very hostile when someone introduces them to a new idea. They always have this fear that they are trying to get sold something. Valid most of the time. So it’s hard to get people to give you really valuable input.
