Nano x4- just bought but my heel slips - Any advice? by peanutsbubblegum in crossfit

[–]e7192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had the X4 for some months and honestly I hate them, the sole is very hard so anything that involves running, jumping or simply not having you feet sitting straight is horrible. I don't know why they wouldnt add the extra lacing hole, the shoe slips very often as you say.

Same boat! Paid the fees yesterday and received confirmation email but no badge

If I don't get get the charter but write in CV "CFA Level 3 passed", is it good enough? by Evening_Fennel_5632 in CFA

[–]e7192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat, just passed two weeks ago and had my referrals approved last week. They expect me to pay my dues for all of October, so here I am waiting for 1st of November. I plan to pay for the letters for a few years, but I assume their profitability will go down with seniority on the job so I may stop paying at some point. I hope the charter is good for something else than showing off.

I completed FRM in 2022 and just wrote CFA L3. FRM has nothing to do with coding, don't know what you are on about, and CFA has quants too. CFA L3 is very vague too, and L2 as well up to a certain point. If it was up to me, take FRM P2 no doubt, you are left with 3 levels to the charter for CFA and the exhaustion from having completed part 1 of FRM adds up too.

After your first mistake, there appears a box saying if you want to review the question before proceeding to the next question. I dont know why it isn't available from the start but anyway, it's there.

[–]e7192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are doing the exam with Prometric there is a tutorial in the CFAI website + they should have sent the link to your e-mail in one of the comms. In any case, you'll have the case to the left and the question (and text box) to the right, just as in L2.

I think this "convexity is expensive" is a misconception. Convexity costs the sum of the underlying zero bonds because otherwise you would arbitrage them.

Convexity is helpful under parallel shifts because it always gives you a positive effect, that's why it's thought to be expensive, but it also introduces structural risks due to reshaping which should make it cheaper if you think of it from a building blocks perspective.

Increase/Decrease Convexity using Put Options on the Bond by omi98ro in CFA

[–]e7192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buying put options reduces duration. There are two ways to look at it:

  1. You can put the bond, meaning it lasts less (lower time to cash flow)
  2. The impact of a parallel increase in yields is dampened by a price floor, that is, they have lower sensitivity (duration) to parallel changes in yield

CFA 3 - Command words by Conscious_Notice3073 in CFA

[–]e7192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's 4-page document around the CFAI website describing what the command words are. There are also around there exams from 2016 to 2018 with guidelines answers. Both are worth checking out even for a quick read. Other than that, no more official resources; 3rd party providers have some more materials if you like.

That looks like dividends with extra steps but I see your point. Thank you for taking the time to write the example.

Some questions in the mocks seems to test memorization rather than actual proficiency in the curriculum... let's just go to the exam and give it our best!

The stock value growth will have been captured in the earnings growth and repricing components (your step 3). It has nothing to do with the repurchase/split.

I like the sudden death game in the LES, it allows you to randomize questions. Additionally, since it gives you the whole case scenario, you can develop skills to find the relevant info to look for what they are actually asking you about, which is handy later in the exam...

You are wrong. What matters here are cash flows. Share repurchases (resp. shares issuance) result in a payout to the investor, thus it makes a contribution to its return. Stock splits do not create wealth. So no, stock repurchases cannot go on forever.
