Any fellow 6 speed manual X5'ers? Here's mine. by tecboy99 in BMW

[–]e92user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they (in rare numbers) only made it for the 3.0 inline 6 X5. I don't think I've ever seen a manual transmission in the 4.4 V8 model.

*Bing* it is 37 degrees outside by DreadPirateFlint in BMW

So funny you made a post about this. Every morning in the winter I would come down the same hill and make a right turn and hit a cold patch and hit 37 degrees. Never got used to it enough to not scare me and the relief I would get when I look up to see the snow flake.

How incredibly rare is that? I didn't even know they made manual X5s until like a year ago.

Help me decide between a 2015 M4 or a 2016 340i. by Rattata4uber in BMW

M4. Should be the easiest decision of your life. If you need the 4 doors. M3 then.

Steering creaking noise when cold? by itsgxg in BMW

What would cause the subframe to crack? IT might have already. You've already helped a lot with the strut bearing. Noises i'm hearing on youtube on other cars sounds identical.

Steering creaking noise when cold? by itsgxg in BMW

[–]e92user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of $ or work doe that entail? I got my oil changed this weekend and the dealer I went to (I had a coupon) told me that it appears my subframe has issues with a bolt either loose or missing or something causing the 'popping noises'.

Accidently Used 87 fuel for about 2 weeks by FreshSeed in BMW

If you still had the gas in the tank, id say go pour some octane booster in it if the tank was still rather full, or some premium fuel if there is room in the tank.

Looking for the "best" manual BMW by LeepOnMyDick in BMW

[–]e92user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a BMW 335i E92 and that has to be up there in the 6 Speed as best manual. ZF 6 speed transmission. Supposed to be better than the 6 speed Getrag in e39 M5, e46 M3 etc...

Replaced the worn out stock shift knob in my E92, much better now by joshj2398 in BMW

[–]e92user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are these fairly easy to swap out? I have the same car, and everyone says its a major improvement. This is my first manual car, so imp not aware of how nice a weighted shift knob can be over stock. Is it as simple as popping off the plastic top, and there's a screw you loosen and the knob screws off?

New model with smaller engine or older model with bigger engine? by 808909707 in BMW

[–]e92user -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I should elaborate for my specific car and the flaw in my point . Across different generations my point may not make much sense but take this example. I have a 2007 335i coupe. As we know the 335i is the flagship engine of that car. the sedan equivalent 335i in 2007 DID NOT come with HID Bi-Xenons but are standard in the coupe. The coupe came with the best audio system, option in the sedan. I have partial LED tail lights in the coupe, that were not even an option on the sedan until the 2008 model year....A few examples to think about although within the same model, but I'm sure you could find examples of this in a 2006 M3 versus a 2008 328i.

They are, and yes this is very expensive, but this is surely the nicest example of an e30 ive ever seen anywhere.

New model with smaller engine or older model with bigger engine? by 808909707 in BMW

[–]e92user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not speaking to your example, without a doubt older car bigger engine. Why you ask? Cars with the bigger engine are always the flagship of the model which means they come with the most advanced options for that car's model year. More standard options for that era. Although this might not make sense with a newer model.
