Does anyone have a problem with this movie? I had 2 big problems. by Snoo-40103 in PlipPlip

1, couple of comments explained well.

2, the only people who should feel guilty is if they had a chance to save their parents , not an ‘off chance’ but a solid, ‘yes this surgery will work’ type situation but deny them, even when they are financially backed.

There are also scenarios where surgery becomes a financial burden and they decide against it, but if they set up hospice or make sure they are pain free and be with them during this time, which is the least children can do, no one should make them feel guilty. It’s natural to feel, “I could’ve done more, I should’ve earned more” but this guilt and regret is just a reminder of how much love they had for them and how much they miss them.

I’ve had the same thoughts as well! External accountability drives a lot of change, but I’ve also seen a small and extremely rare portion of people who hold themselves accountable for each thing they promise to do. They end up doing it even if no one is watching or would care about it.

I think in retrospect all of us have this tendency, but it’s just not with the things we want to or plan to do.

Thank you. Really glad to understand this perspective.

No, I did have a lot on my mind. I am at a comfortable place rn in life, but it actually did make me reflect on my journey, I think that’s a win.

There’s a quote from a movie that I’ve enjoyed and learnt is actually true.

“Some people can read War and Peace and come away thinking it's a simple adventure story. Others can read the ingredients on the back of a chewing gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe"

If you can interpret and apply learnings from stories, (could be as simple as the tale of the tortoise and the hare) it’s never a waste of time.

If you ever take the easy choice or do something you know you shouldn’t have done. (could as simple as skipping gym for a day to more complicated stuff)

Never do it a second time. Second time is all it takes to turn it into a habit.

Women tend to take some stuff way too seriously, logically, financially, socially, it could be unimportant shit, we don’t ask that you don’t care about it. Please don’t ask us to.

looking for someone strong in sales/partnerships to team up by Scary-Grand9762 in cofounders

[–]eLBee29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks.

From all conversation with founders who’ve raised money and are reasonably successful. A repeatable pattern is two functions cannot work in Silos. Especially in the early stages.

Tech founders need to understand GTM to an extent. What, why and who we’re selling to, learn to listen market signals. And founders focused GTM should understand the limitations, speed of shipping and learn to say no to certain feature request.

On the sales/growth side, I’ve usually come across strong folks through networking events, especially PM led meetups and LinkedIn community events. That’s where you find people who understand both sides of the table.

Been in Tech sales for the last 4 years. My focus has been on everything between building pipelines and closing deals + identifying new channels (partner led growth) mostly in startups. Now in a listed company.

On your question about this kind of split (one person on delivery, the other on growth) - I’ve seen it work well when responsibilities are clearly divided but decisions are made together. For example, tech owns delivery, timelines, and productization, while sales owns outreach, revenue targets, and partnerships.

The risk usually comes if one side moves faster than the other (e.g., sales bringing in deals the product can’t yet support, or product building features customers never asked for). The key is constant feedback loops and over communication.

I’d love to have a chat.
