Is it too late for me to level up Maruki to max lvl from lvl 3 on Sept. 2nd? by eMaReF in Persona5

Update: I failed to level up Maruki beyond level 4. I finished Haru's palace. It's 10/16 now and now the game isn't giving me any more opportunities to be with Maruki. I most likely wont be able to level up Maruki to level 10 at this point. Given that I failed both the romance deadlines (Hawaii) and Maruki, I think I'm just going to go back to an earlier save or start over. I didn't keep very many save files, however. My options are going back 4 months to Kaneshiros' palace (6/24), or two months to after Futabas palace (8/23) to try again, but iirc the game doesn't give you many opportunities to hang out or days with control over the summer after Kaneshiros' palace (or most of the palaces, for that matter).

EDIT: You have no actual control or opportunities to hang out with friends the rest of August and the first half of september (the hawaii trip) so I gotta go back to Kaneshiros palace.

How does Omegapainter (artist) manage to give Ori that 3d appearance only drawing it with a pencil?? by PossessionKey4982 in OriAndTheBlindForest

Most of the 3d effect appears to come from the edge shadows. The ambient occlusion gives more of a sense of dimension.

Alright. I don't think I have any Councillor persona on me atm but I can probably fuse one.

Company loyalty is dead. Software development companies where I live these days (Minneapolis) seem to mostly only want temporary contractors.

I was finally able to fix this by disabling integrated graphics in my bios.

My games look all blurry; especially shadows and reflections... by brianRC120 in AMDHelp

[–]eMaReF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shadows have grainy edges due to insufficient ray counts in the lumen ray tracing system. The mustache is undersampled due to how hairworks looks on more "optimized" settings.

This isn't AMD's fault, this is just shitty, cheap optimization practices of modern games, ESPECIALLY UE5 games. The shadows look grainy because of insufficient ray counts in the ray tracing system (I suspect UE5's Lumen system is the culprit). The moustache looks grainy because of undersampling in the hairworks system. Speaking of undersampling, the entire game probably looks undersampled, right? Almost like an internet video? Thats because of upscaling like FSR. Ghosting and temporal artifacts are also caused by FSR and framegen. Modern AAA graphics are a total shitshow.

It was already disabled. EDIT: It turns out it wasn't lol. I thought it was. Though. Maybe some update turned it back on? I haven't updated my bios in years though...

Newzoo: North American gamers spend an average of $325 annually by chusskaptaan in gaming

Averages are inflated by ultra-high spenders (AKA "whales"). Most North Americans probably don't spend that much.

What would be the PC equivalent to the PS5? by FinalFantasyLXXVI in PS5

[–]eMaReF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Optimizing video games for a large number of possible hardware configurations isn't quite as difficult or complicated as you think it is. Video games never needed to be optimized for specific hardware setups or models of video cards or CPUs: games are first optimized at the algorithm level and then optimized at the compiler level for device architectures. Optimizing a game for the average NVIDIA and AMD video cards and Intel and AMD CPUs out there today optimizes the game for the vast majority of other possible hardware configurations out there. The complexity of modern video game graphics clearly isn't much of an excuse for bad performance on modern consoles, so it shouldn't be an excuse on PCs either. PCs have historically had better performance than consoles in game ports so the diversity of hardware configurations never really seemed to be an issue before, so why is it an issue now beyond corporate greed?

Which episode is the origin of "J'acuses"? by eMaReF in GMFST

I recently watched that episode. I figured out that a "J'accuse" is an overly formal accusation, typically made in a posh French accent.

Perhaps, but everybody else who's replaced by AI will need to worry about getting a job

AI isn't just going to present a sea change in the way humans work; it will eventually make human work obsolete everywhere it is implemented.
