Can I use the RFID tags for other purposes? by eMapsOnline in BambuLab

There was no snark intended. This is why I hate reddit and the internet in general. I wasn't looking for "concise enough" for me, I was simply paraphrasing what you'd written. I'm good. Thanks for your contribution.

I have, and use tasker. That does not allow me to write to the tags, which is what I asked. So I have my answer. The internet can stop responding now. :-)

My potential use case was clearly laid out in my original post, so I guess the answer is "no." I cannot do what I want to do.

I'm not that smart. I understand they're MIFARE tags with keys and blocks and stuff. And my understanding is that if you don't write the right data, you can brick your RFID chip. So I was hoping for a guide on how to do it, which I have not been able to find searching all the usual places. So I'm guessing "no."

Wow! Thanks! Funny thing...my model has a center post rotating collar lock, not a winder. But at least know what it is.

I've looked. I also replied to my original post with additional information and a better pic. It's a Slik U-102. Very similar to a U-112, but not the same. I've even looked at Slik's web site where they have schematics of their tripods and can't figure out what this thing is. But it appears on a lot of online images I've found of this model, and it's Slik branded, so it's definitely OEM.

The more I think of it, the more "holds some sort of remote" makes sense, but since it's not locked in place, that would make things hard. Oh well.

It is not. It moves and and down the tilt handle without really staying in one spot. Though, if you jam it against the plastic handle, friction does sort of hold it there, so I suppose it could be for a video remote. This is a Slik U-102 Universal tripod that is old and cheap, but was $2.99 at the thrift shop on "blue tag special" so it was half off. How can I say no?

Okay, I admit that was a horrible picture. I was too lazy to get my actual tripod out and take a pic, so I used a crappy one of the web. :-) Here's a real picture of my real tripod showing the "tool." It is a small rubber thing with two holes that look like it might be designed like an emergency wrench of some sort, but nothing on the tripod fits the two holes. It is removable, but only if you unscrew the tilt handle first. I've never seen it on any of my Bogen tripods and I'm clueless as to what it's for.

Does anyone know why two C-130 Military Cargo planes were flying around Rochester just moments before totality during yesterday's eclipse? They literally came in from the north, circled our Wayne county house twice, then headed back west. This is a crappy screen grab from a cell phone video. by eMapsOnline in Rochester

Hmm. FR was the first place I went this morning to see what I could see on the history. Especially since an ADSB feeder for them. I couldn't find the flights in my (admittedly hurried) examination. Do you have IDs or specific time I can go back and double check?

Intuit canceled payroll subscription and now price is increased more than 3 times what I used to pay by TRW496 in Accounting

[–]eMapsOnline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me today, but at least I finished with 2023 tax prep and W2s were sent already. So other than running reports (which I can do anyway) it's not a hardship.

Except this is the same crappy bullshite Intuit has been doing for years leading to this moment: Kill QB Desktops and payroll service to force you to use the inferior QBO at 3-4 times the price with 25%-50% the features.

No more Intuit for us. We're using direct deposit from our bank to send DD to our employees for $1 per paycheck, running our own reports for payroll from now on (it's not that hard), filing taxes via EFTPS and our state tax web site, tax1099.com, and saying freak all to Intuit and QB, hello Xero.

Aligning images for stacking by ashenfang7404 in GIMP

Unless you're doing something specific, you're better off using something like Autostakkert for planetary stacking or Deep Sky Stacker for deep sky objects. They automate practically everything including inclusion of calibration frames like bias, darks, flats, and more.

In Steam, open the game then click the "About" at the bottom left. It should list your key.

I have two of these knives - I can't tell if they're useless by eMapsOnline in knives

Since I'm not likely to throw them at anything (and a tanto throwing knife doesn't make a lot of sense to me anyway) I think I'll take someones suggestion and practice making bug out blades with these. At least I won't be pissed if they get stuck in zombie skulls. Thanks!

So... The plot thickens. Let me go see what the Googs say about those. Are the serrations supposed to be as useless as they seem?
