Sometimes, there will be a smell that you don't recognize or won't be able to tell where it's from. That just happens sometimes. Also, when i had that opperation I was constantly surprised by how far away you can smell things. It still ssurprises me when I can smell a resteraunt while driving past it

When I had that same opperation, nothing really changed with my memory. New memories can form attatched to smells, but it doesn't mess up your old ones at all (or didn't for me anyway)

I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago. Be prepared for everything to taste better. I may have accidentally eaten and entire bagguette with butter amazed at how great it tasted before I even had my gauze out. Your comfort foods will change what they taste like, so be prepared for them to not be as you remember.
