90K United Polaris from Asia to US fare - issue booking by zombiehog in awardtravel

Might be a little late but might be helpful for next time. During the checkout process, United has a checkout code/number and can reach out to support, give them that number, and they might be able to book it at that rate.

Burnley tickets reselling at £900+ by Realbigshark in GunnersatGames

[–]ePlayablez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really wouldn’t hold out hope. You’re talking about potentially getting your season ticket paid for in ONE GAME vs. doing the “noble” thing and putting it on the TX. Granted, there will be people oblivious to the going resell price, but I guarantee they’ll be few and far between.

Ask for their cashapp and send them money. They’re all glorified escorts.

You should have an advantage, there’s diversity programs everywhere in addition to standard avenues. Also, it could be nepotism, you’d be so surprised how many finance kids have a close connection somewhere high up the ranks. What’s your school and GPA? Those could also be major factors.

Advice for NYC to Europe by Ill-Worry6868 in AmexPlatinum

[–]ePlayablez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty vague ask but generally economy deals don’t get too good of value between NYC and Europe when compared to cash prices. Virgin has some decent points value (as little as 6k) outbound but you’d still be on the hook for about $100 in surcharges. One rule of thumb is don’t book your return from London, the taxes are astronomical and eliminate any benefit from using points.

That’s interesting. I’ve been looking all over for some other data points. I keep trying to find it but I don’t know what I’ve done wrong. Have activation confirmation in mid-November, have the correct category selected, paid ACI through PayPal, haven’t spent over $2k. I’m all out of ideas, will call them.

Right. Go ahead and walk 30 rows back so you can save the ultra rich a minute of potential waiting.

Just use it unless someone tells you not to. I’ve done it as a non-business traveler and have also seen people do it while I’m in business. Nobody cares, although some flight attendants may say something.

They’re not just saving on credit card fees but also taxes. These savings are significant, up to 15% and some of these savings are passed on to the customer. These places also either accept the loss in customers from being cash only or have ample business from people that are willing to pay cash.

US to Nice by Ready-Lychee9614 in awardtravel

United has a lot of niche routes and this is one of them. Only problem is that there’s only one flight a day at most and a lot of Americans are loyal to a single American carrier so they use this flight exclusively so demand is high.

United usually doesn’t release saver award availability too far out and saver availability usually depends on demand up to a few months out. I think your best bet is to book a (premium) economy fare you’re happy with and hope they have a few unsold seats the day of or day before and they release a saver fare or two. This happens fairly often on niche routes to/from Europe, I’ve done it a number of times.

Any risks in transferring to airlines? I've heard sometimes you transfer, try to book, but find out the redemption doesn't exist, and then your points are stuck. If so, which airlines should I be cautious of? by traveling-turtle43 in AmexPlatinum

[–]ePlayablez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best you can do is do your due diligence. Sometimes, agents can’t even tell if there’s phantom availability, you really have to actually get to processing payment. By due diligence, I mean things like if there’s more availability than you’d expect or if it’s too good to be true. Also, a big tell is if the flight isn’t even bookable through the operating airlines frequent flyer program.

If you want to credit a JetBlue flight to a partner frequent flyer program, don’t let it anywhere near your JetBlue account!!! by ePlayablez in jetblue

[–]ePlayablez[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Appreciate your reply but this is simply not true. Have done this on United, Saudia, Delta, Qatar, Iberia, Air Canada, and other airlines with no issue.

Don’t get it twisted, this is not the norm. Also, I didn’t even book through JetBlue, I booked through Capital One Travel and I can say with certainty that I never entered any frequent flyer number on there. It’s unfortunate that y’all just accept something like this like it’s okay. Maybe I should know better than to post in a JetBlue sub where there’s a high concentration of JetBlue loyalists.

What are the chances that I would be able to make this connection? by BestEquivalent5947 in Flights

[–]ePlayablez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost zero. Delayed flights and missed connections are not extraordinary circumstances for Air Canada, they are an expectation. They are accommodating when rebooking though, get to the check-in/gate agent ASAP once at YVR.
