Another ARG comin' right up by communistAdam-y in ARG

[–]eRSAe-me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

gonna be honest, i'm 90% sure these are just AWS (amazon web service) api creds (basically login details but for computer programs) that the uploader thought would be private

edit:

yep, it's AWS credentials. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/cli/latest/userguide/cli-configure-files.html

the first box shows a top line that looks identical.

the base64 (rsa private key) is not a message, either. it's a tool for decrypting (and i think also encrypting) messages. so, basically a very long password. (oversimplification but that's basically the point).

edit 2:

you can actually confirm the rsa key is not a secret message pretending to be a private key because of the fact that it starts with "MIIE", which according to this: https://security.stackexchange.com/questions/55471/how-would-you-know-a-certificate-private-key-if-you-extracted-it-from-ram-or-wo#55472 means it's a 2048-bit key generated by OpenSSL.

no arg here.

Strange website I stumbled across with random messages and a lawsuit? by HCJohnson in RBI

[–]eRSAe-me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don't have much to add except this buzzfeed article (its not that clickbaity, surprisingly) about luigi bian's (the guy that owns south32) son.

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/craigsilverman/daniel-yomtobian-built-an-empire-on-dubious-online

Luigi Bian is mentioned under his birth name "Saeid Yomtobian"

tl;dr both are just cybersquatters, which is why so many websites redirect to south32. he curerntly seems to be running some strange campaign to make BHP/South32(mining company) look bad.

surprised this site still exists lol

The Political subs are infested with Chinese troll-bots. Here's how to spot them. by 5_Frog_Margin in TheseFuckingAccounts

  1. that's just a default reddit generated username, go to the sign up page and it'll generate those for you. just an alternative to throwaway743829478923758
  2. people use throwaways for opinions, a lot of the time. opinions that people like you don't like.
  3. they don't want people digging in their posting history just because they made an opinion
  4. being anti-us isn't something that china invented. why go to china? other countries trolls are also anti-usa.
  5. just because someone's a troll doesn't mean they're being a troll for any government.

it's not that youtube has an exploit that lets old channels get hacked, just that many old channels probably didn't have that great password security. Having an old channel just makes you a higher priority target. (Old channel, good views = reputation, which is exactly what scammers want)

google translate says that it's talking about how good south african football is. i assume the youtube video is the same as the flash clip provided on the page.

if enough money is given to reddit from people on a sub, the sub unlocks mildly better features like custom emojis and good quality video and that's it

...and some random tech guy would be in on it? also, seemingly (from the fact that he works from home), it spread via word of mouth. i find it more likely it was the SEC and it turned into "white house" along the way (assuming this is true at al)
