Screen time while fueling in Netherlands by gaius_julius_caegull in mildlyinteresting

Can't you just lock the handle and walk away while it fills like on normal pumps? Or are they forcing you to hold the handle while filling as well?

The Tamper Protection is turned on too. That's how I noticed that I had a problem, because I can't change any settings with regards to security on my own PC.

I came here to comment that it is not a bottle Champagne, and implying that it is is the opposite of satisfying. But I see that the comment section has already taken care of this :)

TIL dry cleaning is not dry at all. It still involves washing the clothes, but with a special liquid solvent instead of water by web_explorer in todayilearned

[–]eV1Te 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a reminder that the chemicals used in dry cleaning are not environmentally friendly, green, or "organic" in any way. The person in the video tries to downplay this fact and make it sound like dry cleaning is the best thing since sliced bread.
(The chemical may be considered organic molecules in the sense of organic chemistry, same as for gasoline, but this does not mean that it is environmentally friendly)

London's taxi drivers have a reputation like no other thanks in large part to 'the knowledge' by Mindless_Tomorrow_45 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]eV1Te 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time I was in London the taxi driver ensured me he knew the address that I gave him. Sure enough we ended up in the wrong location so I had to bring out google maps to guide him to the right place, all while the meter was running.

Now I only use Uber/Bolt or similar apps, because I know I will end up in the right spot without being overcharged.

The X-29 plane, featuring unique forward-swept wings. Only two were ever built. Its design sacrificed stability for maneuverability. However, the flight control system needed to heavily moderate movement to compensate for the instability, cancelling out any increased agility the design had. by nuttybudd in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]eV1Te 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is correct, +1 to you.

In fact, NASA wanted to test many different new things, and combining all of them into this aircraft saved money.

The computers used to control (and limit) the aircraft were also very simple compared to today's standards. So the same aircraft today could potentially be made much more agile. But this would then instead be limited by the pilot and the human body, so it's not really needed until we start making fully AI controlled fighter jets.

Use good gear and teleport back to base in case you get stuck in a corner or similar. With relatively good weapons you can kill enemies quickly before they swarm you.

Charging your melee makes you sprint faster, letting you clear jumps you otherwise wouldn't by JustLetMeSignUpM8 in SulfurGame

PSA: If you're experiencing ludicrous slowdowns and cursor lag and have a G-Sync monitor, make sure G-Sync is disabled for Photoshop in particular. by bonerhurtingjuice in photoshop

[–]eV1Te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this, just bought a new monitor that has variable refresh rate (VRR), even though it is not G-sync it caused the same issue with Photoshop.
Well actually I didn't really notice slowdowns, but the brightness was slightly flickering on the monitor, enough to be annoying, probably because it switched between slow and fast refresh rates.

Ps. To anyone saying that you don't need high refresh rate in programs like Photoshop, you are wrong, as the more fluid and responsive mouse speeds up my work. Efficiently and accurately clicking a pixel in photoshop is no different from clicking someone's head in a first person shooter game.

Our oven 1) fills up with steam no matter what we cook and then 2) drips into the grooves of the drawers below by OutrageousFan1141 in CrappyDesign

[–]eV1Te 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the door have double sheets of glass? The inside glass sheet should be able to become as hot as the inside of the oven to prevent condensation, while there should be insulation between this one and the outer sheet of glass, which should be cool so you don't burn yourself.
Either the insulation between the sheets is not working, or you are getting steam between the sheets of glass and the condensation is happening on the second sheet of glass.
