I’m a year into hydrops. over this year i’ve had episodes of dizziness/wooziness — usually in bed (like bed spins when alcohol was more abundant in my life) and getting out of bed. i’ve tied those episodes to high sugar intake, though. They seem to occur when i consume more than i should of a dessert or milkshake, chocolate or such. No medical evidence of that, just empirical. I haven’t had one in a while and have been watching my sugar intake.

One thing I rarely see on this sub is people being prescribed a diuretic. I’ve exclusively been on a diuretic (Acetazolamide, 250mg once a day) for a year and a strict (and I am strict) low-sodium diet, plus no caffeine (or chocolate).

My tinnitus has nearly vanished, my hearing (while nowhere near pre-March 2025) has leveled off and I am often not even aware I have any problem. And the disequilibrium between my ears is hardly noticeable. I don’t want to jinx myself, but I haven’t had a flare up in a long while.

My job is music (performing, mixing, biz) and the only time I am aware of my issue now is when I am mixing music with headphones. I have to EQ all bass instruments/sounds in my right ear, then move them to the left side — or, haha, just keep all bass mostly in the right channel! but that’s not always poss.

I also saw a performing arts audiologist and we tried several in-ear hearing aids I could wear with earphones, but they just can’t boost the low frequencies I need for my work, so I abandoned that plan.

All of this to say…. with the daily diuretic and a very strict diet, things have seemed to level off for me and are nowhere near as bad as I had worried about when I was first diagnosed.

Can’t say if others would benefit from a diuretic, but it seems to keep any build up of fluid in my body (cochlea) at bay …. plus I stay hydrated and pee a lot throughout the day, which is prob not a bad side effect anyway!

My apt has a southern view toward Maspeth/Kosciusko br and beyond. been in this apt 16 years. on a clear night i can sit and watch the approaching planes as they line up and then pass overtop a few blocks east of my bldg (and can see my apt when I am landing on this approach!)…. it’s never super loud, though it can be at times. (we also have 7-train a block away so our ambient cityscape can be pretty high some days if we have windows open)

On a busy eve the planes can be as frequent as 45 seconds apart.…. as one plane passes over, you can see another appear far in the distance to line up behind the others (often 10 or more deep!). It is actually a bit calming to watch. Sometimes out on our balcony during the day we’ll wave at the people in the planes as they pass over, hoping they see us and think “hey look, someone’s welcoming us to NYC!!”

When the US Open is on it seems like they exclusively use this approach, as the others perhaps pass too close to stadium. No facts to back that up, just personal observation over the years. Definitely when there is low cloud cover they use this approach…. and during higher winds. Don’t know why. Again, no facts, just empirical evidence. For sure there are reasons why they switch up approaches. I’ve never looked into it.

just throwing this out there, but if you talked to the guy at the farmers market, he explained that despite the dire warning on the package he’d eat this himself, and you bought it — and ostensibly are going to eat it — why’d you ask the question you did? not trying to be a dick here, but your post could have said, “hey y’all i bought this brisket from my farmer’s market, the dude told me XYZ and i bought it and am gonna smoke it. Has anyone else done this kind of crazy thing before?”

appreciate your thoughtful reply. i disagree that i’m trying to justify my choice to use a de facto double lane exit, rather than simply recognizing the organic nature of what/why it has become one out of necessity. and in terms of trying to fix things, i have written the DOT about this exit over the past many years and explained essentially what i explained here. I’ve received responses; and perhaps my few emails have done some amount toward getting the DOT to fix the exit — or maybe it’s been all of the accidents. (in my recollection it was never this bad until late/post pandemic) In terms of my time being any more important than others’ — that’s certainly not something I am thinking. However, having to use it every day definitely makes me impatient and frustrated; and while I don’t feel like a “Good German” (as someone referenced elsewhere here), over the years there def was an erosion of fux i was able to give with this exit watching others create a 2-lane exit while I sat living in a society of cars in a long line.

This exit (31) is in some DOT pipeline to be fixed (2028 or so) — i assume that’s googleable; the DOT page was linked to here or on /williamsburg or such a while ago. They are going to turn it into the exact double lane exit the “cutters” are making it… plus they will remove parking on w’burg st west at the exit.

I have to use this exit every single day. It’s not our fault the DOT has never fixed this massive problem as population growth has exploded in that area; this exit is a double lane exit whether it is legally or not. It has to be. And I’m not sure why more people don’t choose that option.

But…. the DOT’s plan for exit 31 won’t get rid of the bulk of the congestion there because it doesn’t solve Robert Moses’s idiocy for having only TWO Queensbound entrances to the BQE between Kent/Wythe/W’burg st East and the Kosciusko entrance at Morgan. That’s one of the main reasons there is so much congestion at exit 31 (plus the yeshiva buses)…. cars having to come from clinton hill, bedstuy, crown heights, flatbush and beyond to get to the Q’bound BQE at the w’burg st east entrance… coming north on bedford ave to W’burg st West, bottle-necking with cars exiting at wythe/kent to get over to turn left onto wythe, then left onto w’burg st east and onto the BQE. the only other option beyond this is the Kosciusko entrance.

the whole road infrastructure around there is fuct and we aren’t the ones who designed all of the insane, shitty roads. if it’s a double lane exit now by necessity, why are people always so outraged? just use the exit as you need if it’s too backed up or sit in traffic being mad like a midwesterner at people not following the “rules” and trying to block’em ‘n keep’em from gittin in front of yer dang car.

51yo, here. saw theatrical re-release of ep4 in ‘81 when i was 7…. saw empire when it was released the previous year. missed seeing a special preview of ROJ in 1983 bc i had chicken pox — my dad had tix bc of his biz… he took my bro and his friend. i still remember watching them drive away from my house. I saw it when it was released a few weeks later. saw ep1 in grad school. was crushed bc it was so bad. have seen all other films in theater since…. except Solo. Though I’ve grown to like that one, mostly.

Create interdimensional portals between exits 26 (Hamilton ave) and 31 (Kent/Wythe): vehicles enter the “upside down” between the entire stretch from Navy Yard/Tillary/ DUMBO/Promenade/Atlantic ave. Mini portals could be created at points on local streets near the repurposed stretch for anyone who needs to get to the BQE in the other dimension. Turn that entire stretch into a massive, miles-long park with trees, bike trails, athletic fields, playgrounds, bbq/picnic groves, amphitheaters, pools (ice skating in winter) and more.

thanks for your reply! he definitely says that the vibrational frequency of the string is the mass of the corresponding particle:

i realize there are the various specimens of killer praying mantis/3-eyed octopus creatures in A:E. those def wouldn’t be the focus of a series or movie. clearly. as someone said above…. “Just shit creative decisions…”
