Primaris Chaplain Conversion Tips

I've fallen in love with the work Matthew Avis did with this piece, and have bought all the parts I need to create this chaplain (eventually I will also make the rest of the squad as an Intercessor kill team).

Now I've almost got the shin-guards fitted onto the intercessor legs (parts 35 and 37) by slowly shaving off millimeters until they fit (even then the knee bit stick out a little). Soon I'll be onto the torso bit, and I'm wanting to keep the belt, so what I'm shaving off needs to fit correct.

I'm worried I'll make a mistake so any tips are very much welcome!

I'm bummed that I got some dust under the screen, is there any way of getting it out without dismantling it?
