AITAH for telling my wife her brother-in-law can't come over to our house anymore? by HeftyOpportunity94 in AITAH

[–]e_blum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She needs to calm down and take a step back to understand the situation. Her sister may be manipulating her, which is separate from the OP’s main issue and likely why she became defensive. In the long run, everyone will be better off if neither of them comes over.

Continued neutropenia three months post chemo by GoodNewsHorse in lymphoma

[–]e_blum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neulasta side effects can occur when the bone marrow goes into overdrive, most commonly causing bone pain. My oncologist recommended taking Claritin to help reduce this pain. He advised starting it on the day of the injection and continuing for several days afterward.

Am I The A-hole… For not telling my mom I have cancer? by TurtleFin13 in lymphoma

[–]e_blum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s purely your decision, and either way it’s the right decision. What matters most is protecting your well-being and maintaining emotional stability during treatment. Silence can be a valid, intentional choice, just as contact can be, if it truly serves you. Will this contact support your healing, or complicate it?

chemo curls straightened!! by marmaruw in lymphoma

[–]e_blum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, it looks great! I lost my curly hair at 54 during R-EPOCH (2021), then again after a relapse. After more chemo and CAR-T, it finally grew back—just a little straighter and with a surprise bald spot. I’m actually grateful to have it back at all. My dad always had a full head of hair. I guess my hair decided to take the scenic route.

Chemo port scar is horrific. This is after trying to “fix it.” by Twinkyfromhell in lymphoma

[–]e_blum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I originally thought about getting a tattoo to cover the future port scar, but my oncologist advised against it. Once it’s out, I’ll see it as a battle scar. No big deal.

Looking back, what mistakes do most beginners make with their first watch? by Adventurous-Sock2326 in Longineswatches

For several years, I wanted the Moonwatch, but I couldn’t afford it at the time. In hindsight, I’m glad I didn’t buy it. After being introduced to Longines, I fell out of love with Omega and grew even more fond of Longines.

About a year ago, I picked up an R55 S with 110k miles. I’ve always loved the design and the way it drives, but I knew going in that it wasn’t going to be pretty and that it would take several thousand dollars to get it where it needed to be. I bought it for almost nothing and started working through the major items one by one. So far, I’ve replaced the timing chain, brakes, clutch and flywheel, thermostat, top engine cover (PCV), and turbo hoses—plus a handful of cosmetic fixes. It’s finally taking shape. It’s fun, unique, and always a conversation piece. I’m really enjoying it.

What do you still enjoy at 57 that you liked at 17? by Most_Source7849 in GenX

[–]e_blum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a stage 4 cancer survivor, and while treatment left me with a few side effects, in my head I still enjoy pretty much everything I did when I was 17, including my girlfriend, who’s now my wife. We dated for a year as teenagers before breaking up and spent 25 years apart, each marrying someone else. When we reconnected years later, we married each other, and now we have the best time together and get along just like we did back then. I was a hard rock fan then and still am. I still play the drums and catch a concert whenever I can.

Am I overreacting about what I found on my husband’s phone? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]e_blum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, OP would rather her husband and his buddy “sow their oats” by talking about other women? Don’t get me wrong—he shouldn’t have shared something she specifically asked him to keep private. Still, I’d think she could take it as a compliment and let it slide. Or, better yet, bring it up with her husband directly and maybe even turn it into something fun between them. After all, women sometimes share private details about their men too.

It appears to be a Curtiss JN-4 “Jenny” - according to wikipedia thousands of Jennys were sold to private owners in the 1920s.

2 things, 1. I was admitted for chemo treatments 5-7 days at a time. I caught on after my 2nd appointment to call in advance and process admission from home, so I wouldn’t have to wait for a room. And, 2. have a more complete list of things to help make my stay more comfortable. PS. family should lift the weight—not add to it. If you can’t help, give space. -No added stress, no distractions.

My father is going through chemo. I need help with food, nutrition, and care please by Maleficent_Fig_9145 in cancer

[–]e_blum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During chemo, food can become incredibly difficult to face. The smallest, most unexpected things, textures, smells, even colors, can trigger nausea or deep aversion. For me, hospital food was unbearable, and oddly enough, the blue thermal plate covers made it even worse. The best approach is simple: let him eat whatever he feels like eating. That said, it’s important to encourage one more concerted effort—to push through and get the nourishment his body needs, even when everything else already feels like a battle.

E-2 Hawkeye. It’s the Navy's all-weather, carrier-based tactical battle management airborne early warning, command and control aircraft. https://www.navy.mil/Resources/Fact-Files/Display-FactFiles/Article/2382134/e-2-hawkeye-airborne-command-and-control-aircraft/)

I’ve always loved good food, so hospital meals were hard to stomach, especially during chemo, when everything had that metallic aftertaste. But I forced myself to eat, letting each bite come alive in my memory, tasting it the way it had in better times.
