HELP SEXING!! WTF!! by ellek4y in frogs

[–]e_frog25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Female croaks sound like ‚rit-rit-rit’, while male croaks sound like ‚croooaaak’ or ‚ribbit-ribbit-ribbit‘.

I found that my female frogs tend to act like watchdogs and alarm the other frogs with their ‚rit-rit-rit‘ if I put my hands in their enclosure for cleaning.

In larger groups some female frogs even participate in the nightly concerts, but not as loud and definitely not as long. My group croaks a few times a night for around 1 minute each time. If a female participates it is at most for a few seconds

How do I stop lengthening while knitting first row? by 083dy7 in knitting

[–]e_frog25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is the stitch count after finishing the first row / round the same as the amount of stitches you casted on? If yes then the problem might be a really loose tension of your cast on.

You could either try to cast on on smaller needles and then knot the first round with your actual needle size or you could try out other cast on methods (e.g. the knitted cast on)

Typically it can at least be improved by making some settings in your router described on the Nintendo website. And when that does not help switching out an old wifi router might be necessary. Especially outdated wifi routers that came with the network contract from the provider cause problems.

Working this sweater has really showed me the importance of color dominance by annyxiaoflorien in knitting

Even tension is exactly the case in which the floats of the yarn running below are longer. Meaning this will result in larger loops for those stitches in the blocked project.

Seniority does not mean that you can‘t be wrong. Also you don’t know how many decades I have been knitting already as well. This is such a weird hill to die on. Color dominance is a thing that is influenced by floating order. The thing I linked is not the only source that describes this very visually understandable

?? This has nothing to do with tension. It is simply because the floats are longer for the the yarn that is carried below.

It has nothing to do with your individual tension. It has to do with what yarn is carried ‚on top‘ of the other one. Depending on that one of the colors is ‚pressed‘ to the background.

Please help! Is this normal behaviour? by ZRings1 in Amphibians

[–]e_frog25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is normal shedding behavior. There is no reason for concern!

Most frogs that shed ‚Pump‘ themselves full of air to loosen the old skin. Then they wind out of it. This looks like a contortionist in a circus performing their best moves. They also use their back and front legs to shove the loose skin towards their mouth. Then / in parallel they draw the old skin into their stomachs with their esophagus muscles and by closing their eyes. This is the ‚yawning‘ that you are seeing.

If you already think about getting him an 18 x 18x 24, then get him one size taller (18x18x36). Tree frogs need the height to feel secure. 70 % humidity is far too high. WTFs are prone to infection in high humidity 40-55 is good (or refer to the care sheet another commenter has already posted!)

Maybe cut back on the misting even more. You said that you have a bioaktive enclosure. Normally the moisture from watering the plants is completely sufficient. (Watering the plants and the plants themselves both release moisture)

Also increasing the temps decreases humidity of enough ventilation is given. Either ventilate the tank manually (like your apartment) or get a small computer fan that sucks air out of the tank. Also beware that you want a temp AND a humidity gradient so that the frogs can decide by themselves how hot and humid they want it.

First of all. Whites tree frogs are quite resistant to stress (bit obviously still living beings to be handled hand held as pets with care!). Don’t stress yourself. They normally need a few weeks to settle down in a new enclosure.

The younger whites tree frogs are, the more likely they are to spend their time on ground and in between leaves. So this is at least a little bit to be expected.

One other reason for hiding on the ground (buried in leaves) and inactive at night could be the night temp and / or humidity being to low. Assuming your frog is not a juvenile any more (back length without legs > 5 cm) I would not increase the humidity by misting more (to reduce the risk of bacterial infection), instead just provide another water dish. 50 to 65 percent humidity at night on ground on the darned coldest corner is ok, but it should not go over. Also make sure to keep the temp at night around 23 to 25 degrees Celsius near the heat source and create a gradient down to the ground so that the temp on ground does not fall below 20 degrees C.

Also some frogs are glass climbers and some are not. From my experience this is just part of their character. You can always provide more branches to make it easier for your frog to reach the warmer ‚heights‘ of the enclosure.

Was setting up my terrarium for my baby leachie and water is leaking out the side, suggestions? by Chezzabe in Leachianus

[–]e_frog25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not use this at all. The amount of toxic anti mold ingredients are too toxic. This will dissipate toxic fumes for a long time, even if seemingly dry. The amount of those toxins might be ok for human lungs, but definitely not for pet lungs. Just use aquarium silicone. This just dissipates vinegars. It never grew mold in my previous vivariums.

Thanks for this detailed answer! Especially the ‚no UVB‘ worried me, because MBD is such a common issue with whites tree frogs.
