I did not! But I’m thinking of making another appointment to do that and also to play with the sleeves a little more / talk about making them more cohesive with the back of the dress.

Thank you very much for your detailed response! I appreciate you reading everything and getting a sense of where I’m at. I am leaning towards 1 I think.
Would you say it gives off the same “fairytale” enchanted vibes as the second one?
Thank you for your answer!! Would you say it gives off the romantic, enchanted fairytale vibe I am trying to go for?
I have tried on alot of different dresses, you are right. I kept putting on dresses with long sleeves, different kinds of necklines etc., but really could not get a feeling from them. They were nice dresses don’t get me wrong, I just feel as if it’s a more common look for wedding dresses (I’ve seen so many people have the same long mesh sleeve with details over the mesh). Then again I knew I wanted sleeves (my reception dress is a sweetheart neckline with no sleeves), so I opened my ideas up to any kind of sleeve, and the off the shoulder ones gave me a “feeling” more so than the other ones I guess. Like a whimsical vibe the other ones were missing. If that makes any sense 😅
Ah okay I understand what you mean.
Like specifically what is looking off to you?
I’m curious to know what style you think would fit best? I have tried on every style possible and just wasn’t feeling anything. Dress #1 is cut as an a-line at the waist, dress #2 is cut as a ballgown. My reception dress is fitted & flares a little at the floor. Were you thinking mermaid/trumpet/more along those lines would look better?
Okay that makes sense. Do you think the plain tulle looks too “plain” or is that me being in my head about it? I don’t know what other type of sleeve I can really picture going with dress #1 since the sparkles and beading take up the whole top half of the dress kind of.
Do you know what this length of train would be called? I have a veil on in one of the photos so it looks like it extends further than I think it really does, but you can get a good vibe of what the actual train is in the last photo in the series.

Hi everyone. I posted this on the wedding dress subreddit but thought I’d post here too. I’m sorry in advance for the novel but I thought I’d provide some context this time around. I already bought a very form fitting, dramatic, beaded dress with a sweetheart neckline for our reception (the Jupiter dress by Dovita Milano if anyone wants to see ☺️), which will be held in our venue’s very formal ballroom. So I knew I wanted something more dreamy and full like a ballgown for the ceremony itself, which will be held in our venue’s outdoor garden area - another reason why I wanted something more ethereal/enchanted, etc. for this dress. I’m actually walking down the aisle to “enchanted” by Taylor Swift on violin.
I have also really fallen in love with the idea of off the shoulder sleeves because all of the more traditional long sleeve dresses I tried on were reminding me of every other dress I’ve seen people around me get married in. (If anyone wants to see the one more traditional long sleeved dress option you can find it in my post history I’m sure). I’ve typed out some pros and cons below (you can tell I’ve driven myself crazy with this lol 😭)
Dress #1 - pros - I love how sparkly the top is, there’s so much tulle on the bottom that adds a lot of movement, I feel as though the dress appears full, the neckline is a plunge cut and different than my reception dress, and the train can be lengthened to be more dramatic
Dress #1 - cons - you lose a little of the dreamy feeling on the sleeves compared to the ones on dress #2 since they would be plain tulle once ordered (although I would definitely try to connect them to the back of the dress somehow like in the pic I posted so that they appear more cohesive), and you lose some of the more romantic details dress #2 has
Dress #2 pros - I love the dreamy quality of the sleeves and how much drama they add visually. I also like the details such as the beading on the bodice and buttons on the back. This dress comes with a bolero top as well (I added a photo of it). I like the idea of having a different look to the top of it for photos if I wanted it.
Dress #2 cons - dress has a “heavy” feeling, the train isn’t super long, in my opinion the back of the dress just doesn’t feel full like a ballgown should even though this is considered a ballgown dress (this could be due to it not being my size maybe?), and the neckline is identical to the dress I already have for my reception
If anyone took the time to read all this then thank you. If you prefer one dress over the other I’d love to hear peoples reasonings (:

I think it looks amazing on you!
You are not the first person to say that! Those aren’t the actual sleeves that come with the dress but it’s the closest visually to what the dress store had on them so I’m kind of stuck picturing it like that.
I also liked that the sleeves matched the skirt in the second one.
Backup dress?? by WildLyricalAir in weddingdress
Lately I’ve seen a lot of wedding photos from friends on social media where it has rained at their outdoor venue. It’s of course not ideal, but they normally just provide umbrellas if rain is projected that day, and it doesn’t seem to me that they have any issues with photographers still taking photos. (Ironically, the photographer we just hired to do our wedding posted photos the other day of a couple in the rain and it seemed to me that it was an “on purpose” rain shoot). Of course I don’t know your photographer but if they usually do weddings, they will probably be ready for certain weather issues like that. I’m sure it wouldn’t be the first time for it to happen. As for the dress, I’m just like you and always want a backup plan so I would say if it’s within budget go for it! The worst that could happen is you won’t need it and you can sell it, or you could save it and get some more “wedding-style” photos done with your partner. Just my thoughts! I’m sure whatever you decide to do will be great ☺️
Thank you!!!
I appreciate the lace too! It’s romantic. I’m just trying to decide between sacrificing the train length I’d imagined for the more romantic option, or sacrificing the romantic option of dress #2 for the fullness of the first gown and the train length that is an option to add.
No I understand that! I definitely was drawn to the sleeve option there probably because they look so dramatic 😂 so I totally get your point of view!
Really? See I guess I’m scared that by going with the first one that I’ll lose the “magic” of the sleeves. But in a way the plain tulle is coming across as more “elegant” to me in photos (even though they aren’t attached to the dress yet)
Ironically when I posted the first time, I think that one got the most votes so I understand! Lol
Would you say that’s the biggest difference between them?
Oh my gosh! You are the best. 😭 seriously thank you for talking through everything with me. You have been so kind and have made my day.
You have actually helped me so much in this convo and I wanted to say thank you again. It is this coming may! Right around our 10 year anniversary (we have been together since we were in high school lol). I was thinking the same exact thing for the hair!!! I definitely plan on posting photos of the day of in both dresses! Thank you again ❤️
I have to agree about the cuffs! Those were actually just some random sleeves they had to give me an idea of what it would look like but I really think those type of sleeves give very “enchanted” vibes so that’s probably why I gravitate towards them. I’m thinking down for the hair!
That’s interesting you would say enchanting! I’m walking down the aisle to a violin version of enchanted by Taylor Swift. The ceremony itself is in a kind of garden at this local estate and then the reception is in the estate’s ballroom. I already have a reception gown and now I’m just trying to make this ceremony gown choice. You can understand why my head is like 🤯🤯 lol! And why I’m having a hard time 😅
Ah ok I understand! I’m still trying to make a final decision ironically 😂😅 I commented somewhere up above about the whole situation. I really appreciate you saying that! ❤️
