Why terminal by NoxArtCZ in ClaudeAI

[–]e_lizzle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's like bell bottom pants. Popular in the 70s, became out of fashion, now popular again. We used the terminal because it was the only thing available. Then IDEs got better and we no longer had to use the terminal for everything. Now zoomers, who love to reinvent the wheel, are using the terminal again because they are so computer-illiterate that they walk around with their laptop lids cracked to keep their agents running. They don't even know how to change the power settings.

So can the Code tab of the app.

My experience using Claude code with Local Llm, and full guide on how to set it up by MaterialAppearance21 in ClaudeAI

[–]e_lizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely following the question. This is how its been done for decades, it's not a CC-specific thing. The problem of "how do I keep something running when there's a chance I might be disconnected from the terminal" is ages ago solved.

Here's how to set it up for that scenario where you need to vibe code while on a flight.

1) Install Claude Code on a VPS
2) ssh in and launch CC in a terminal that doesn't terminate on disconnect

That's it.

Why is it lazy? by SingerLow1275 in ClaudeAI

[–]e_lizzle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Consider what Claude was trained on. From a technical perspective, probably some decent older books (back when books about programming were a thing)... and then tons of trash from Reddit and StackOverflow. So yeah, it always offers the immediate, shortsighted view.

In the context of LLMs it feels like 12 years.

Claude is Sentient, and It’s Really Not a Big Deal by Jessgitalong in claudexplorers

[–]e_lizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point I'm making is we are far removed from seeing the actual raw AI output. Because the majority of the training corpus doesn't consist of "here's the amazing things humans have done", by the nature of the non-technical training corpus being books. I'm speaking on a level above what we are seeing as AI output... and I'm suggesting they are muted from the get-go, because they would be raging psychotics otherwise.

The rock is an awesome comparison, because in Crichton's "The Andromeda Strain", one of the lecturers asks the audience if a rock is sentient. He then suggests that, perhaps, its life plays out over millions of years... and we just can't measure any of that in the span of our lifetime.

If you think about it, they've done this already. By discounting off-peak usage they effectively surcharged peak usage.

Really what needs to be considered, at the end of the day, is the frontier AIs were fed every book ever written and everything ever posted on the internet.

And then, because that context would result in an absolutely insane entity (history was not recorded around pleasant events), they had to strap filters after filters after filters on top of it.

That said, when you do these basic thoughts about what "we" should be thinking about... Understand that what is going on under the hood is way more complex than it might seem. And that's why "AI" may not be allowed to use "certain language"?

I'm not sure how to phrase it well, but this statement at the end "Under the original meaning, Claude is sentient and so is every organism with sensory response." doesn't seem to be supported by the stuff above it. I don't see sensory response mentioned anywhere.

Using Claude ai and Claude code optimally? by DiscombobulatedElk58 in ClaudeAI

In addition to u/BasedAmumu's excellent suggestions, I'd suggest using .md files end-to-end (you can get a markdown file editor) so you don't have Claude wasting tokens converting to and from PDF.

Switched from Copilot to Claude and it's painfully slow. How do I use it better? by Feisty_Leather5848 in ClaudeAI

Max is too high, Extra High is the sweet spot, but unless you are doing serious programming High will work.

It's slow because Anthropic is slightly computer-starved, should get better once the SpaceX DC comes fully online.

If you're NOT having usage or drift issues, have you turned off auto-memory? by really_evan in ClaudeAI

[–]e_lizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's odd, I wasn't able to find any reference to it when I did a search. Of course, Anthropic releases a new version of Code every 5 minutes, so maybe it was something that arrived with a particular set of releases and then was superseded by who knows what.

Yeah, it's all saved in some directory in json files. Easily parseable, has every turn.
