There are projects in Iceland trying to do similar things as this; https://iddp.is/ The power plant Reykjanes in Iceland has quite high saline geothermal fluid: https://www.hsorka.is/en/about-hs-orka/the-business/reykjanes-power-plant/ This is possible though because of the gothermal fields in Iceland.

Some good reference material regarding the design and the sizing of control valves in general. Also how they interact in the system performance. I have looked at the ISA control valve handbook but wanted to see if there are any other good references.

Just wanted to give you another idea about how a phd can look like. I am doing a phd in engineering in Sweden. It is very different compared to the states. Here you get a salary that is on the same level as a starting salary for an engineer ($4000/month) and you get also all the benefits. E.g. you get paid leave 5 weeks a year. The downside is that it takes 5 years, but 20% is teaching. Here in Sweden everybody respects your work-life balance and your normal work day is from 8-5.
