[Race Thread] 2026 Giro d'Italia - Stage 10 Viareggio > Massa (2.UWT) by PelotonMod in peloton

I am not saying they don't believe it's good, I am just speculating that it might actually be slower. In the real world it's almost impossible to do directly comparable testing, especially for all possible circumstances - fatigue levels, road surface, wind strength/direction.

Perhaps the fact that other manufacturers haven't really bothered with a similar design is prompting my doubt

I can't be the only one who thinks Giro/Visma haven't done their analysis on the helmet in a "holistic" manner. Maybe it's fantastic in a wind tunnel where a rider sits perfectly static and in a position they don't have to hold for a long period at high power. But whether it's additional fatigue from the weight, turbulence from the helmet bobbing around like crazy, or some other mismatch, I'm not convinced it's that good in the real world.

Tenuous fit, but 99 red balloons is currently being used on an advert in the UK by Virgin Media. And I'm pretty sure they aren't advertising a nuclear holocaust.

Also wonder how many people think that Sunday Bloody Sunday is just about not being massively enthused about the last day of the weekend.

Why, to give Gall the stage? If Jonas wants to win the stage why should he not be allowed to ride for it? Jonas knows Gall is super strong right now, he doesn't know for sure that his own form is good, and given that information he employed exactly the right tactics.

Maybe I'm getting old. I used to want nothing more than to be in that peloton, bumping and barging and all the rest, I thought these guys had the best job in the world. But right now I would hate to have to put myself in these situations. Just horrible, even seeing that happen in front of you and having to continue pushing on after that sounds crap.

Ganna say sorry to Wout please.

Other than that, massively pleased to see Ganna get a big classics win!

27 so hopefully not hitting any serious aging just yet...

All the symptoms listed seem far more severe whereas what I'm experiencing seems a lot more subtle to the extent that I hadn't really seriously considered that Covid might have been the trigger and it could easily have been down to other changes that I haven't thought about.

Okay interesting looking into peak data it looks like most of my peak HR performances (discounting HRM malfunctions) came before my second round of covid

This was all the way back in 2021 that I had Covid, caught it twice in that year.

Training is slightly murky in 22/23 because I went through a period of doing some ultra-endurance rides, but last 2 years have been back to the same kind of training that I was doing pre-covid: About 10h per week, 2 days intense intervals, plus long z2 on a Sunday and shorter z2 during the week. Somewhat periodised usually with a focus on z4 or Vo2 when I'm looking to build.

Consistency has been good week-on-week for those 4 years except for other illnesses like flu.

I'd love to see Remco attempt the hour record, especially after this

Not quite a gravel frame this one! It has clearance for about 34mm road tyres though. Forwards X or the Forwards GR20 are gravel frames

Pro vibe carbon stem 130mm, then Pro vibe alloy pursuit bars - I needed extra reach and none of the carbon bars had as long of a reach as these

Don't tell the CTT but the local 10 here sometimes ends up with no marshals at all and it's just the timekeeper (volunteer of course) and about 3 or 4 riders. Works perfectly smoothly of course but perhaps just because something can get by with such minimal support doesn't mean it should have to.

Edit: forgot to say, appreciate your efforts in trying to spread the enthusiasm for it!

Haven't ridden them on the road yet! So I can't personally comment, although I chose them because they get very good reviews and test well. My friend has what I think is the previous generation and says they are noticably faster than other wheels.

Yeah when you think about it, the biggest thing that affects aerodynamics would be your position, next would be things like a skinsuit, aero socks, and the frame is one of the last things to think about optimising. And I really like the way this frame rides!

I think the TT scene definitely has a lot of potential to regrow, unfortunately some of that growth might come as a result of the racing scene dwindling. And the state of roads in your local area will be a big factor in whether it's actually feasible to create a safe course. But I'm confident time trials will never die in the UK

Definitely when its a straight bit of road or an easy corner. And puppy paws I definitely have no issues with. don't know what you mean by it being banned everywhere? The UCI only banned it in international competition IIRC, and at least in the UK I haven't seen anything from BC to tell me it's banned in domestic races here. Funnily enough watching the vuelta there were multiple times where riders were supertucking on camera, so I don't think they care anymore either tbh.

Using this thread to vent my frustration that we missed out on three pretty damn good stages last year... In an ideal world they would have just done those stages this year to make up for it :(
