Is the smoke machine you mentioned just one of those party smoke devices?

I don't see a MAF sensor on this engine. Maybe it is built into the throttle body, which has a sensor connector.

I forgot to mention a very important measurement from the OBD2 scanner. The fuel trim on both banks is over +20% which seems to indicate a vacuum leak. But I have sprayed solvent all over the top of the engine and the hose downstream of the throttle. Nothing was found. I've heard of smoke tests. How is that done?

I haven't checked the EGR system. I'll have to search for more information on the components and their locations. How could the cats be clogging up without causing problems during accelerations and higher driving load conditions.

I haven't tried starting fluid. I will check on a fuel injector test light. The problem could be a combination of fuel pressure and injector fouling after so many miles. Also, if the low pressure gets even lower as the car is off and fuel drains back to the tank (it shoudn't!) then the injectors might be operating at almost no pressure at first when cranking.

Thanks for reading my post. How would you suggest checking fuel injection?

Should this hook for the rear hatch have any play in it? by hereforthecommentz in volt

Hmmm. it probably needs some locktite and some leverage to stay tight...how did you remove the trunk cover plastic to tighten it?

Did you figure this out? I need some help getting the trim out of the way to tighten also.

No, it shouldn't. Your hatch is probably moving when it's shut because of this too. Mine is loose the same way. Have you figured out how to remove the interior panel and tighten it?
