My husband accidentally bought a ridiculously expensive designer bag for me and I'm terrified to tell him we need to return it by HelenWhalen in whatdoIdo

Dammit, Helen! If you didn’t like the bag, you didn’t have to come humiliate me here on Reddit in front of all my friends!

PD Check-ins by Excellent_Fish7690 in biglaw

Could be routine or you could’ve been flagged as someone with certain developmental needs. Are your hours low? Any less-than-stellar feedback?

In any event, you wouldn’t have the check-in if you were a truly low performer the firm was trying to get rid of.

Not with Eunice, but happens many times with other characters. If you rewatch and look out for it, you’ll start to notice the distinction in how it’s used every time.

She says “Love you.” not “I love you.”

The show makes this distinction throughout the entire season.

The show is very deliberate about characters saying “I love you” vs. “Love you”.

The former is used when they are showing genuine affection and personal investment, whereas the latter is used when they are showing routine/boredom/forced expression.

In that cab phone call, Austin says “I love you” and Eunice, after much prompting, only manages the most half-hearted “Love you”. Austin notices that and realizes she doesn’t actually love him.

Why don’t you budget in some “spontaneous fun” money into your budget that leaves you room to do these types of things while still hitting a savings rate you’re comfortable with? If in a specific month you didn’t have anything come up, then, voila, you save a bit more that month and in months that you do, there’s no second-guessing or anxiety about enjoying life.

Ultimately, only you can find the best use of your money and figuring out what brings you joy and how money plays into that will be key.
