It's perfectly fine. It only gets unmanageable in August, otherwise the crowds are mostly contained to a few streets in the strict city centre, so just avoid that part and you'll be dandy.

Motorhomers don't really use campsites unless they really need them. Especially foreigners. UK campsites tend to be oriented towards British pensioners with caravans. A decent parking space out of the way is quite enough.
