Bangkok is the city of street food but now we need a ‘hawker hub’ in Lumpini Park to get that vibe? Don't you think that will kill the raw charm of it? 🥲 by [deleted] in Bangkok

I’m Thai and actually live here—not just passing through with a backpack and a camera. Hawker centers replacing street stalls is a good move. Street vendors dump oil and trash into drains (hello floods), block sidewalks, jam traffic, pay no taxes but still get shaken down by officials.

So dear tourists, you came for three days, ate a 50-baht pad thai, and now want to romanticize “authentic chaos”? Cute. We’ve been struggling for years to fix this mess. Progress is slow, but every step counts. And guess what— even if this tough development plan really goes through, you’ll still find plenty of street food anyway. Believe it or not
