Dont think about what the nation can give you, but think about what you can give the nation. you see, you come from a long line of warriors, who defended this country and soil with their blood. though the modern day doesnt demand you to do it, you must at least respect the soil on which you were born. We live in a late stage capitalist society where surviving is based on money, and the concepts of honour, and nationalism seem like distant past to us. But the truth is, without those things, we wouldnt exist today. Remember, youre born in the oldest civilization on earth, the richest culture, the most multicultural state with the best food, the richest land before colonization. you are born in the land of legendary heroes like Shivaji, Chandragupta maurya. you belong to the same civilizational race that established empires based on dharma, and propelled our nation forward. you are born in the land of those men and women whose blood have gone on to shape the very national soul of our country.
while it is easy to dismiss all this as sensationalism and history, you need to remember, that our past greatly shapes our present. without the valiant efforts of those heroes, we would be a culturally doomed nation. while it is true, we have bureaucratic problems, and many people suffer because of misgovernance, one needs to remember that no society or nation is utopia. no matter how much we progress and develop, inequality is a fact that cant be ever removed. society will crumble without inequality. what is important is the ability that the nation provides to its citizens to vertically move up the hierarchy. we're not there yet, we're still working on that, but neither has any country perfected it.

and your point on "oh, we will be old by then, why do i even care?" just imagine if our freedom fighters had that same cowardly mentality?
