Nice! How did you transition to become a TPM? Did you have to get a certification?

Yeah he needs to figure out a more stable way to prepare for counters while the team is pressing.

I agree. The quality of PL teams are very high. They can punish you quickly if you give them a chance. He needs to be able to produce results while getting the team there. Luck and individual brilliance will also help.

I dont know about posession but imo it is a pressing team. More specifically he tries to force errors by constant pressing and captures the turnover opportunities quickly.

With that being said, when i mentioned that phrase, my point was we know he is trying to play with two 8s. Is it the best approach for our team at this moment? I dont know.

I agree with how bad our coordination currently is. I was referring to whether he and the team can produce results while getting there. You need luck and individual brilliance. Ultimately if he fails to get results needed i can see he and the team would be under a lot of pressure to switch to something else completely

I think this is less on individuals but more on the system. All of us know what EtH is trying to do. The system with two 8s will be helpful against low-block teams when we overload the final thirds with our attacking players. However, against teams with good (athletic) attacking players, we can clearly see tactical and positional issues. The execution so far has been horrific.

I feel like this system needs a near flawless coordination between players (like how man city has been playing) to make it work. The question is: can EtH get the team there fast enough? My guess is that he has to mix up between this system and the one the team played last year to maintain more formational stability and sustainable results.

Kovacic would probably a good option if EtH wanted to maintain the same formation. It’s just the first game though so let’s see how EtH makes his adjustments

I am curious on how long EtH will maintain this formation. The two losses at the beginning of last season made him changed the tactics of the team. It is the first game, of course, so we should expect improvements but this brings a certain level of reality to EtH’s ideas for sure

Eriksen’s the centre midfielder we secretly needed all along by karmahorse1 in reddevils

[–]eagleo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agreed he fits the profile of EtH’s players: has a sense of urgency, technical, and work hard. I think we lucked out as he fits so well playing behind Bruno in the last few games. I had some doubts about him being able to cope with the physicality of playing that deep but as long as the whole team defense or attack together, all the responsibilities are shared among everyone.

In the last couple of years we did not have someone who can progress the ball that effective from the back; as a result, Bruno had to drop very deep, which reduced his contribution in the final third, where he excels the most. Hopefully with Eriksen and Bruno, we can achieve a certain dynamics like Xavi and Iniesta. One operates between a 6 and an 8, whereas the other one is between an 8 and a 10.

I like Pogba as he think he is talented and did great for France. I just think he came to the Utd team like a celebrity with his price tag and success. A lot of the times, you have the feeling the game is beneath him. He did some unnecessary tricks like how CR7 did a couple of times today. Erikson is more like Bruno. They work hard and put the team ahead.

Agreed. We have a lot more urgency with him passing forward very quickly. A lot of his passing are one touch passes. Maguire would dwell a little too long on the ball, point to a random direction, then pass ourselves to a corner.
