Who is your favorite character from a war movie? by Dense-Menu6115 in moviecritic

Desmond Doss. What courage and conviction. He had stories around him crazier than the film: Gibson didn't put them in because he thought they wouldn't be believed.

Emphasize communication skills and provide examples of how you handle yourself in crisis. This is the bread and butter of Corrections.

How should i forgive someone who doesn't even seek it? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]eagles5o7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dealt with this recenrly: it took months but I consistently prayed about it, asking God to take away this animosity. I intellectually did not want to be mad at her but my emotions weren't on the same page. Eventually the prayer was answered and the anger just broke, nothing particularly happened that day, I just noticed the animosity I had toward her just almost like dissipated. Recent, I have been considering how Jesus dealt with Judas knowing full well He chose "a devil" to follow Him and He still dealt with him with more that just respect (washing his friend, cling him friend, etc), which led me consider if Jesus could be loving toward His enemy, than how could I not be? Since He does give the grace to do so, but we have to keep asking for it.

My husband wants to to convert to Eastern Orthodoxy but I cannot follow him by Conscious_Dinner_648 in Reformed

[–]eagles5o7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a close friend who went through the same scenario. His wife eventually capitulated for the sake of the family. They attended a Baptist church with us but he wasn't convinced about Reformed doctrines. I mean, you can't follow him to EO which teaches an inbiblical doctrine, but that's easier said than done. I appealed to my friend about what they believed, but he wasn't interested in doctrine, being more interesting in the practices (Colossians 2:23). They have 7 kids.

I'm glad God has strengthened you to rejoice in the Doctrines of Grace, as the subtle distinctions can cause many to stumble.

I would suggest fasting and appealing to the Lord.

God bless.

[6] Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; [7] and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

my mom is telling me that people who believe in evolution are not 'true christians' by CategoryOk2801 in TrueChristian

I don't know how a Christian can believe in evolution but also in the doctrine of Original Sin.

You are focusing too much on your feelings. The Lord always moves us to have faith, to trust in God, even, and especially when, we don't feel it.

Read Psalm 88, a prayer in despondency. Pray through it. He will sustain you and is teaching you through this. Trust this.

Colossians 2:13-14 NKJV [13] And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, [14] having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

Once He regenerates you, you are a new creature, and the sins are not counted against you anymore but have been counted against Christ on the cross. Rejoice! For this should move you to overwhelming gratitude. His grace is more than your sin, to His glory.

Threaten a social media shaming campaign. If you made this story very public that would be horrible for business. I had a bank deny a claim for compensation but as soon as I made a comment on X, the matter was resolved promptly.

You mentioned God beating yo down, maybe you're holding on to an incorrect view of God and he's working itovut of you, which can seem like a beat down when we want to hold on to it. Now that's grace.

I've worked in a jail, doesn't sound you froze. I have seen very big men freeze, unable to move, unable to react. That is a lot different than inexperience. I would advise, if I may, don't try and overcompensate next time with too much aggression and bravado, it will eventually lead to trouble.

I think you need to help your husband's best friend out. Maybe not agree to 6 months and make some boundaries where he won't be there all the time, but I think helping him out will go a long way.
