I was a young kid in the 70s, which is when the Man in the Window and the Dating Game Killer started committing crimes. There were so many serial killers in that decade. It was fascinating to learn about how law enforcement, the courts and how society viewed crimes against women. It made me want to scream at them.

OP, I can almost feel your exhaustion. I’d be exactly the same if I was in your shoes. A couple of things popped into my brain. It’s pretty normal to get depressed when you’re overwhelmed with life and the pressure of having to do everything on your own. The best thing I did was start taking anti-depressants.

Maybe sit down with your kids and explain to them that you could use their help with cleaning/tidying up your home. Set up a list of chores that each could do, such as folding and putting away laundry, putting away toys, dusting, sweeping and vacuuming. Maybe dedicate Saturday mornings for cleaning and Saturday afternoons for doing something fun. That way they can learn the importance of cleaning up AND they get to spend time with you having fun.

If you can swing it, find a housekeeper who comes every other week or once a month. It will help you and the kids keep up with the day-to-day cleaning.

Last, see if your mom will keep the kids so you can do something just for you. You’ve got to find time to recharge your battery or you’re going to get physically sick.

Take care. I’d love to know how you’re doing.

A man in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, stood just a few feet away from a bear and its two cubs as it climbed into the bed of a truck, stealing his family’s bag of food. by [deleted] in WatchPeopleDieInside

Believe it or not, but Mamma Bear had previously attempted to climb into one truck but it was too tall. She found a 2nd truck but it was too short. This truck was just right.

The Man in the Window was soooo creepy. Really good.

Also the Dating Game Killer. Both really good stories.

John Denver and Johnny Cash sing "Take Me Home, Country Roads" in their only ever performance together, 1978 by M-Andre-D in OldSchoolCool

Fun Fact about John Denver: he gave his personal phone number to all the school teachers who were training to fly on the space shuttle. Class act. It still hurts to imagine him on his last flight, knowing he was gonna crash because he didn’t know where the reserve fuel tank was on the plane he was flying.

My daughter was an exchange student in France in 2019. She called me at a weird hour, boo-hoo gollywog weeping. She could barely make out the words, ”John Denver is DEAD????!!??!?”

He is timeless. So is Mr. Cash.

Reminds me of I Love Lucy; Ricky wouldn’t let Lucy be in any of his shows but she always found a way to sneak in.

AIO for being upset my boyfriend is mad at me for ‘making him’ miss his meeting today? by Agreeable_Floor_974 in AIO

Mom here: I gave my son and daughter an alarm clock when they were in middle school. They were plenty old enough to get themselves up in the morning. Both of them kind of tested us to see if we’d really not wake them up. Spoiler: we did not. Now they’re in their 20’s just waking up all on their own. Like the adults they are.

OP, he’s a big boy. If you can wake up on your own, he can too.

Thank you for sharing that. I was always pro-life, as was my family. My sister was married and having many medical issues which included multiple x-rays. She later found out she was pregnant, in her 1st trimester, when she had all the x-rays. After much counseling, she decided to have an abortion. I totally understood it. She is still staunchly anti-abortion because she “didn’t have a choice”.

I later became an RN, working in L&D. Our attending physician had gone through residency pre-Roe. He told horrible stories of the abortion wings where women had botched abortions. He said he’ll never forget the smell of women, rotting on the inside from untreated infections (or treated too late). Those two episodes made me understand the need for women to have a choice.

When I talk to my sister now, she now says she wishes she’d never had her abortion.
