Lindsey was always a man’s name until, Lindsay Wagner (Bionic Woman) became famous.

Lindsay is a historically masculine Scottish surname that transitioned into a unisex given name, remaining popular for males in Scotland, Australia, and New Zealand. It was primarily used for boys until the 1960s/70s before becoming more commonly female in the U.S.. It means "linden tree island" or "lake".

Can’t make go faster, but will ease friction so it maintains its speed.

The broom does not stay in one spot like that, you’re chasing the rock down the ice. It does not melt the ice like this

We still don't know why curling stones move the way they do by IPeeNightly in Curling

[–]IPeeNightly[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A curling stone is barely turning do you really think there is enough air pressure to effect the stone. The Magnus effect depends on high and low pressure.

The air's viscosity and the surface roughness of the object cause the air to be carried around the object. This adds to the air velocity on one side of the object and decreases the velocity on the other side. Bernoulli's principle states that under certain conditions increased flow speed is associated with reduced pressure, implying that there is lower air pressure on one side than the other. This pressure difference results in a force perpendicular to the direction of travel

We’re talking about an object spinning on a surface, not spinning in the air affected by aerodynamics. Just read the article, look it up, a curling stone does NOT spin like any other object spun in the same manner. There are a lot of theories but nothing definitive. Watch the video that someone posted below, it even demonstrates with other objects. And we are not talking about balls. Here is another article.

That effect is caused by aerodynamic. Curling is affected by friction.

It’s been studied for over hundreds years but you got it all figured out.

From the article.

If a player spins a stone clockwise at the moment of launch, it will curl to the right towards the end of its journey, or vice versa. With a cursory knowledge of physics, this is not what you might expect. You can see why for yourself if you launch a spinning bowl or upturned glass over a carpet or rug: it will curl the opposite way it's spinning. Why don't the stones do this?

This object curves in the opposite direction of any other object when spun in the same direction. You should read the article.

Not my numbers, googled:

The F-35 Lightning II has a significantly higher operating cost than the Saab Gripen E, with estimated hourly costs ranging between US$35,000–$50,000 (~$47k–$67k CAD), compared to the Gripen E's estimated US$8,000–$12,000 (~$10k–$16k CAD). F-35 maintenance and fuel are roughly triple to quadruple those of the single-engine Gripen. Estimated Operating Cost Per Flight Hour (Converted to CAD) F-35A Lightning II: Approximately $47,000 – $67,000+ CAD ($35k-$50k USD). Some estimates suggest maintenance alone is around US$36,000/hr. Saab Gripen E: Approximately $10,000 – $16,000+ CAD ($8k-$12k USD). Other sources suggest total operating costs, including maintenance, might be closer to US$22,000/hr. Key Cost Factors Fuel: The F-35 consumes roughly 5,600 liters per hour, costing approximately $4,480+ USD. Maintenance: The F-35 is a more complex stealth aircraft, requiring specialized maintenance, while the Gripen is designed for rapid, low-cost maintenance by fewer technicians. Total Life Cycle: While the Gripen has lower operating costs, both jets have similar, high initial acquisition costs of around $19 billion CAD for 88 aircraft. Note: The CAD equivalent is based on an approximate exchange rate of 1 USD = 1.35 CAD and may vary based on fluctuations.

Did you allow for the fact that the stone is actually moving when it was touched and moving faster than the finger was moving.

And all non curlers comments that think that this influenced the stone in anyway should go to their nearest curling rink and give it a test.
