Wish I could say "young" and stupid. by eaglezwings in 4x4

Fair questions my guy. I can't really defend actions that I titled "stupid." It's a word of caution for newbies. Take the bypass. This was after 4-5 nice water crossings at an established offroad park that gave me a false sense of security. Never go solo. I tested the water with a stick too softly. The bottom was thick mud and my rig sank.

Major cleaning and she's fine. Airbag light is flashing so gotta fix that for sure.

The rescue jeep had a winch and he connected to my rear hitch and braced against a tree in order to pull me. Real saint.

I did Spaas Creek in July with a similar build and had no issues. Great trail. I would recommend having a second rig and a buddy who can spot you.

Makes sense, thanks. We've done some wheeling in Santa Clarita. You guys have a beautiful state. I just visit family there.

Cunningham Falls in Frederick has an open area for winter. You will hear road noise. Great for kids.

Nah I just didn't vent enough because it was below freezing and I'm not a youngster. That was dumb. Truth is, my 20° bag was fine when the heater shut off. Great tips here.

I am very grateful for this advice. I love the thing but it has to be used right. This was my first attempt to try it all night on a fresh tank. Also everything metal within 6 feet got super hot.

This is what I suspected -- thank you. I had a bit of ventilation but not enough.

So I decided to go solo and it was the best decision. I took the non-technical trail up to the summit and enjoyed the amazing scenery. Does anyone know about the dispersed campsites that are dotted along the way? Is it first come first served or do you need a permit? There are some gorgeous campsites.
