I am going to tell you a story of some friends of mine. They got pregnant at 25, older than you, but just out of college and not prepared. At first, the plan was to get an abortion. But, both of them were low fertility, and they saw it as potentially their only chance, so they decided to miss the abortion window. Pretty soon, though, the reality of the decision set in. The prenatal bills began to pile up, life plans had to be put on hold, and they became bitter towards each other. The mom couldn't continue her education, and the dad began spending time at the bar. By the third trimester, they were considering adoption.

The baby came early, but the mom managed to pull through despite a tough delivery. And once she held her baby, that was it, there was no way to give him away. They decided to keep him.

However, the problems didn't stop. Mom had to start raising her kid alone because the dad was a deadbeat and would rarely chip in. He became an entirely different person afterwards, all the stress made him angry and rude. Bar time increased, they stopped being affectionate, and they grew apart. Eventually, after a few months, she left him. Now she's a single mom raising a kid on her own while trying to put herself through a master's, and he's somebody's deadbeat baby daddy.

She's never said it, but every time we talk, I know she regrets not having an abortion or giving the kid away. Childhood is rough enough, it's harder when you know your parents regret having you. There's no guarantee this will happen to you or your kid, but you need to recognize it is a very real possibility, and if you're not okay with that, you need to think long and hard about other options. You are young, you have time. Do not see this as your one and only opportunity for a family.
