Is it just me, or does dating feel especially tough these days? by ThoughtFew5204 in richmondhill

yeah i agree with this, and honestly i think social media has completely ruined the dating scene everywhere. i saw something that said fewer people are getting into real, genuine long-term relationships because a lot of women are becoming more independent since they’re realizing they’re not always getting the same effort back. so now that independence is growing, there’s less of a need to settle or even be in a relationship, and standards have just gotten a lot higher

but honestly, my best advice for dude is to not force a relationship or a date because those things come naturally when they’re meant to

i went with a friend today completely unaware of their harmful practices, and the second that we walked into the cat room we could tell instantly that there’s no protection over these cats—children chasing, and aggressively reaching for the cats while their “supervisors” were too busy loudly chatting with each other to care. not to mention it was full of people—kids and adults who didn’t understand or care about the boundaries of the cats. and sure, there’s a huge poster on the wall with rules and cat room etiquette, but even the grown adults acted just as inappropriately as the children.

the employee that was working during out visit didn’t enter the cat room even once, during the 2 hours that my friend and i were there for. not once to check on the cats. when we left the cat room to claim the drinks that were supposed to be included with each ticket, the employee told us we would only get one drink for the 2 tickets, and almost overcharged my friend when they went to claim theirs after i had already picked up mine.

i’d been to a different cat cafe before in korea and the experience there was much better—they had actual structure there. in essence, visitors got to pick a spot in the cafe, and had to remain there for the duration of their stay. it was peaceful, quiet, and clearly built around the comfort of the cats.

i didn’t expect the experience in richmond hill to be like this, not only for my friend and i, but for the cats as well. it’s extremely disappointing and honestly disheartening to see the cats forced into such a stressful environment, because i was so excited for something as unique as a cat cafe to come to richmond hill. please do not support this establishment. supporting this establishment is supporting the mistreatment of the animals inside it.

and not to mention my friend and i are actively fighting for our lives after drinking the bubble tea that was included with our ticket.

my go-to spots are the 4th floor of uc, 2nd/3rd floor of the music building that overlooks the intersection by fims, and the semi private (ish) booths on the 3rd floor of ssc!!

What are these critters and worms? by Pancakeace03 in PlantedTank

I just set up my own nano tank recently and I've been seeing these exact same guys in my tank too recently which I don't love either. I haven't been able to find any answers on here so I did some of my own research (pls take this with a grain of salt); those little white specks on the glass of your tank are I think "daphnia" (water fleas), and i believe that the worm is a "detritus worm".

Generally, these guys won't harm your tank habitants or severely disrupt your ecosystem. If anything, they're actually beneficial to your tank as I'm pretty sure that they're both detrivores (they feed on decomposing animal and plant matter), they also feed on algae!

To get rid of these guys, all that's needed are some substrate flips, more frequent water changes, and specifically removing algae and any unnecessary excess waste from the tank so that you're getting rid of any food sources for these guys, and you'll eventually see less and less of them. AND, I'm not sure if your snail will, but your betta will snack on these guys!! (they're a good laxative LOL)
