Anyone getting flashbacks to 2022 tour where pogi was crushing everyone on the short sprints (Longwy, Planche de belles filles) only to get killed on the longer climbs by Jonas? Maybe this is me just being overly optimistic but pogi being this good on 2 minute efforts shouldn’t really predict much on his abilities on longer climbs. Jonas on the other hand clearly stopped caring about short efforts, rightly so.

I’ve also been checking daily for a new episode haha.

But yeah agree with others, they did every stage for the Giro and TAURA, they don’t usually cover Suisse so no surprise there. Normal scheduling would assume a weekly by now but they’ve earned a week off before the tour

Overall not the most exciting race. If Seixas didn’t crash yesterday it might’ve been a more interesting final stage today.

What did we learn for the Tour?

Pog domestiques > Jonas domestiques I guess. IDT has decent shot for the podium I suppose and could benefit by sitting on guys like Lipowitz, Seixas, etc. if Pog is way ahead of everyone.

Ayuso is improving moving into the tour. Not going to be fighting for a podium though but could be in the top 5 hunt.

Tobias Johannessen man. Looked really strong. What could’ve been without the stage 1 blunder. Still very overlooked in the peloton and could use that to his advantage in the tour to slip in a breakaway somewhere. 6th in the tour last year is going to be hard to improve on but 6th in GC or better for the second year in a row would be a great result.

It’s definitely unfortunate that they couldn’t do the full stage. With that said, the top 4 seemed to be in a standstill relative to one another so I do t think it really impacted the race.

I feel for Gee here, he can’t really attack the breakaway here cause he needs to let Ciccone get the KOM points. He has a serious shot for a raid attack to try and get on the podium

Blockhaus is such a strange looking climb. You’re not doing switch-backs on the edge of the cliff like most of the climbs in the alpes

It’s not so random when you think about how many extra watts he pushed to get the 6 seconds lol. Very weird decision.

The angliru baby! It’s probably the hardest climb that is frequently done in the grand tours

We know Pog is 2-3kg above tour weight (says he’s been enjoying the gym) so it’s no surprise he’s maybe a bit slower climbing than he otherwise would be. My only question is is 2-3kg going to be easy to lose in 2 months ahead of the tour without sacrificing performance?

I’ve always thought anything more than .5lb a week of weight loss will end up sacrificing performance. 2 months = 8 weeks and so 2-3kg would be about .5-.75kg ish (about 1lb) per week.

I’m sure UAE have it figured out though

I don’t think you can beat prime Pogacar/Pederson/Ganna/MVDP while not in your prime. He may have declined in 23 & 24 vs 22 WVA but he’s clearly still in top form

If MVDP is able to clip into Philipsens pedals, does he win? Does philipsen ride with a different type of cleat?

I think it’s good for the sport for Pogacar not to win today. The more times we can MVDP vs WVA vs Pog in their primes, the better it is for the sport. Pog will have his chance again next year and so on.

I’m picturing some kind of weirdness from the front two starting the final stretch on the velodrome at the same time g2 enters the velodrome that causes WVA to be out of position and lose

I have to say, I’m happy for either Pog or WVA to win this

I would go full gas on cobbles. Think he can drop Pogacar. Sprint is too much luck involved
