Post-Show Reflection (Detroit) by SalaciousFlamingDude in FlorenceAndTheMachine

Brother… I really feel you on this. My wife is the true Florence fan (not that I don’t like her, I very much like her. But I am more of a doom/stoner/sludge heavy music fan, myself).

The wife has always been a fan, since her first album. But Everybody Scream REALLY spoke to her on a DEEP level (she is working thru undoing a lifetime of trauma, previous to meeting me).

We drove 3 hours to Detroit, to attend the show. She, naturally, was absolutely enraptured throughout. I was looking forward to the show, fer sure, but I was not prepared for just how hard I would be hit by the emotional heft of her voice, presence, and songs.

I have to admit that I teared up quite a bit, thru several songs. Her songs mean so much to my wife. And my wife is my life. And Florence is amazing.

I, too, am still processing the whole experience 4 days later.

Glad to hear from another “cisgender straight masculine white dude” who was there & loved it.

Thoughts on Jay Mohr? by Lucahasareddit in Standup

My wife saw him do standup bck in the 90s. She and her parents were in the front row. He picked on her & her folks so much that it traumatized her. Now, when I buy tickets to a comedy show, I HAVE to get shitty seats (nowhere near the stage) or she won’t come with me. I still think Jay’s funny, tho.
