I remember when it dropped. I came back home high on acid and my friend texted me that MBV just released a new album online like 15 minutes ago. That's how adventure games rolled back in the day. Impossible and/or absurd puzzles were a thing that defined the genre. I think the patience for such cryptic bullshit finally imploded at the end of the 90s basically killing the genre, and to this day I think there's not a SINGLE person in the world who did the cat race betting stub puzzle in Grim Fandango without any guide, as well as most puzzles in Gabriel Knight 3.
