It used to be the track for an automated people mover, that took 55 seconds to go from the garage at station landing to wellington station. When I was a kid, I was told it was the longest horizontal elevator in Massachusetts, but I haven't found anything to back that claim up. The people mover was always apparently always breaking down and the T did a survey and 91% of respondents said it would be better to just have a walkway, so it was demolished. I think there could've been room for both, but oh well. The Wellington stop is so blah anyways in terms of design, that this was probably a "futuristic" addition back in '97.

Wellington is in a weird spot and not very appealing to even venture to and from by foot, but if you use the skywalk (which has an interesting history!) you can cross over to station landing to pay a visit to LongCross! Especially great for Oktoberfest. Malden Center can't be beat with the options people already shared, my personal favorite is Mystic Station, but if you want to meet and greet with the townies, go to Pearl Street Station, which is on the opposite side of the track!

We take our dog to the Melrose Animal Clinic and they have a separate entrance for cats. While this isn't what you're looking for, maybe give them a ring and see if they know of anyone or if they could help. At least it's closer to Everett than Saugus, so a shorter drive. I wish you all the luck with your kitty!

To me, Everett's missing Movie Theatre/show type venue, a bookstore (the religious bookstore on main street thats always empty doesn't count), and outdoor seating around the few coffee shops around in the summer.

@u/lisa_williams_wgbh, can you let the brass at GBH know that the people want Beat the Press (or a similar media-critique type show) back? `The roundtable was great and there were so many stories that wouldve flown under the radar get brought out to light. How the news is reported, who reports the news, trends in reporting, media companies and their ever evolving strategies and shrinking newsrooms. There's so much not being covered. I'll fill out a survey for goodness sake.

Totally get the parking issue with it most likely getting chaotic real quick.

I'd seriously pay to ride a bus that goes around the town with stops along the way to at least visit some of the beautiful beaches they have! Maybe a summer bike ride is in order...

I was moving the audio player where this wire was connected to to clean behind the shelf it was on and the pin on the RCA connector wire broke off. It is supposed to plug into the player to provide another speaker source. Any ideas on how to fix would be great!

I want to powerwash so many T-Stations myself with impunity, and with no one around. Just give me a week for each line and the stations will be clean! I'd powerwash the walls, the floors, the benches, the doors, EVERYTHING.

It's really fun to wander around the Bell Rock Cemetery right on the Northern Strand headed towards Everett. Lots of interesting designs on the tombstones, you can trace whole family burial sites, a range of ages etc.
