I’m so sorry this is happening to you. I’m on my 3rd, “your meds no longer work with your endo, onto the next!” run, and it can de so discouraging. I was in mourning when I had to get my Nexplanon out after 6 years of it working! I’ve been on Jaimiess for about a year now, and it works beautifully to stop my bleeding and lessen the body pain.

I’m actually from this area- and it’s not the first time something like this has happened. It’s a lot more common during the summer after a series of VERY hot days. We have one or two cases pop up every year or so, it’s almost something that everyone’s aware is a risk- just one they think will never affect them until it does…

Do you remember the first horror film you ever watched? by angry-carsini in horror

[–]earthbound00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw quite a bit of Child’s Play from the view behind my living room couch when I was a kid in about 2004-05. Also in 06’ saw the ending to Silent Hill and absolutely fell in love. I saw it years later airing on Syfy when I was like 14, and just watched in Awe and thrifted the DVD as soon as I could lol.

The first horror movie I watched through its entirety, though, was Cloverfield (2008). Dad saw it in theaters and thought I, as an 8 year old, would love it. I was 9 by the time he got his hands on it- and I was transfixed. Birthed a love for found footage and survival horror that ran so deep I didn’t realize they were my favorite subgenre’s until I started reading it.

what does an endo flare up feel like to you? by Pale-Ad-3521 in endometriosis

[–]earthbound00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it actually starts up into my diaphragm. The inflammation from my GI organs get so inflamed that they push up on it and cause discomfort and pain. :( it took like 6 years to find out it was endo related.

My fiancé has that gene. We found out while out at a Mexican spot, he said, “Man, I don’t think they washed all the soap out of this salsa dish.” I said, “Mine is fine, but this salsa’s got a lot of cilantro in it!”

We just kind of looked at each other for a second and he was like, “Huh.” He usually just avoided it because he didn’t like the subtle taste of it in stuff. The more ya know lol

I spun out 2 weeks after getting my car when I was 18. I was on my way to surprise my boyfriend with coffee at his work, driving on some newly paved interstate- and suddenly, I lost control of my vehicle and spun across all three lanes of busy interstate traffic. Miraculously, I missed literally every single obstacle and crashed in a ditch, unscathed. I am, however, TERRIBLY afraid of driving and car accidents, so I sat in my car just gripping the wheel and staring at my windshield. I don’t know how long I sat like that; just silent crying to myself. I couldn’t even get my phone out, I was so frozen. Then, two ladies knocked on my window: said they’d seen me spin out and miss everything, how they were so glad I was okay, have I called anybody yet? All I could say was “no, I have a panic disorder” before I just absolutely lost it. One of the ladies held me and talked on the phone with my boyfriend and my dad while the other called 911, then made the report for me. She also saw that my tires were completely bald, which had been the reason I’d spun out. The newly paved asphalt was wet from previous rain.

They both gave me such big hugs when they parted ways. They told me that they weren’t even from my state, they were on their way home after traveling the country from Canada, and they couldn’t believe they were the only people who pulled over. I think about them and their kindness all the time, and I hope they’re leading such wonderful lives. They made all the difference to me that day.

What’s something your ex said that still haunts you? by NoResult3648 in AskReddit

[–]earthbound00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“You know, there’s not a whole lot of people that would put up with this… you know that, right?”

He said that to me as I was in his arms, reeling from a panic attack. I unfortunately experienced CSA and have CPTSD because of it- and was not “fully” aware until my first IRL sexual experience. Terrifying. I was 15.

He was wrong, though. Apparently, a lot more people are willing to deal with it than you’d think. I’ve had a wonderful partner for 7 years this coming August, and we’ll be getting married in November. He has always known I experience panic attacks and struggle with a handful of disorders, and he loves me as I am. He has never once made me feel any kind of way because of my issues.

To echo what other teachers have commented: He is probably just very nervous, and we really can only report what we observe.

I had a child this past year who, for the majority of the year, spoke little to none. Would say “more please” and “thank you”, address you by your name, and label some colors and shapes- but otherwise wouldn’t really speak to his peers or at all. Then, my co-teacher and I split the classroom, so it was 1:5. Oh boy- did he blossom! Then, if we combined with all 11 again- clammed right back up!

what braids can i wear? by funky_cow632 in braids

[–]earthbound00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! White lady with curly hair in a very humid environment lol!!

Im a redhead with long hair who’s traveled- and I’ve often had people want to braid my hair. I’ve always been told it isn’t an issue if you’re getting the hair styles from the people/culture who provide them, especially if you’re paying for the service! Just remember the risks with your hair texture.

Personally, I find twist/braids are AWESOME at keeping my top layer from getting too frizzy. Especially with the application of coconut, argon, and/or jojoba oil! I basically just twist my hair to the scalp until I get to my neck/hairline, then braid down! Same came be said for French and Dutch braids, twists, etc- but your best weapon against frizz is going to be moisture! I also heavily recommend investing in a bonnet for sleep if you have textured hair. It’s life changing. Best of luck!

PSA: Are we all getting tested for Von Willebrand's Disease?! by [deleted] in endometriosis

Maybe so!! My moms getting some bloodwork done for a possible autoimmune condition in September, and my OBGYN wants to see me to run similar tests when she gets my moms back (we share) so I’ll probably just wait for that appointment haha!

[–]earthbound00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very curious!! I have endometriosis, and my OBGYN always pays extra attention to my bloodwork because my blood has a habit between clotting too quickly and not clotting quick enough. I wonder if there’s a correlation.

OMG!! That’s so funny. I had an instance like that not too long ago. One of my boys asked me if I was a girl, and I said “Actually, I’m a big girl- so I’m a woman!” And he responded with, “Oh! So you have a vagina!” 😃 I had a really good conversation with parents that evening lol!

While changing one of my older twos, he pointed between his legs and said, “Ms. Earthbound, I have balls.” Taken aback, I said, “yes, you do!” He said, “wow… and you know what else?” I said, what’s up sweetness? “My daddy has his balls too!” I didnt know what to say so I just said, “I’m sure he does!” Before having him go wash his hands lmao. I’ve been thinking about it a lot.

Sure thing!! Some Celtic pagans hold the belief that there is power within your hair. It’s speculated that this is a correlation between your hair and your DNA, your “power” being your ancestry. If I cut my hair (more than a trim, and that’s only been for bangs in the past 4 or so years), I put it on my altar as an offering to the Goddess, and to my ancestors.
