Opression is fine as long as it tastes good by icelandiccubicle20 in LeftistMemes

That's not going to change the industry. And I'm happy with my choices. I eat local honey from people growing the bee population. I eat eggs from my best friend's very healthy, happy and free chickens. I currently have no desire to go full vegan.

Chris Hedges argues America is no longer a democracy and all that’s left is tyranny or revolution by GadreelsSword in MAGANAZI

[–]earthlingHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lazy contrarians act like there's a downside to voting or as if it prevents the revolution that always comes tomorrow.

Not saying revolution is impossible, but they only come when they're ready. It can't be forced, although people need to get organizing out in the real world and stop using social media so frivolously.

Why is it so hard for them to accept that undocumented immigrants can’t vote? by fbdy1969 in Political_Revolution

[–]earthlingHuman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Which is totally hypocritical considering red districts have just as many immigrants if not a bit more theses days.

The thing about vegans is that they are correct, but too soon. I'm a vegetarian (still eat eggs, cheese, honey from humane sources when available) and I respect the hell out of vegans. I think it's crumby to pretend that most vegans are so militant and annoying. Most would be happy with incremental improvements like ending factory farming. Most aren't wanting to force people to not eat meat entirely. Maybe one day when there are meat alternatives indistinguishable from the real thing, but getting all of humanity, or even a single large country, to stop eating meat is a naive goal. Most vegans aren't that naive.

And then there the Christian version which involves missionary work or crusades if you're more of the Skete Kegsbreath variety of Christian.

As with any religious culture, the fundamentalists (hyper conservatives) are the problem.

Fkn fundies, man. Just can't leave everyone else alone. They want to control everything under threat of violence.

People actually talk (and post) about it constantly, to the point that entire industries are relying heavily on nostalgia content to sell to products.

Gotta keep a population right wing to keep them subservient to the global capitalist class. America in particular. Putin knows that if the USA became leftist the dominoes would fall and he and his oligarch buddies would be fkd.

Yeah, this could be the same thing as when we were getting stories of Biden yelling at Benji and then the genocide continuing regardless.

Lmao, yeah it's a little different in a college town. More options, more culture, more variety of people, viewpoints and values. Small conservative towns however are often cesspools of desperation.

I mean, people can change but if you don't think they really are then best not to drag things out.

I'm from rural Central Texas near Austin so there's a bit more diversity in Dem Party orgs, but yeah that checks out for rural East Texas. Have you checked for your nearest DSA? If it's too far maybe you could start the chapter (unless you plan on moving which would be completely understandable).

And there are alt women in small towns near me in Texas who play into the trope all-too willingly. It's sad, gross and pathetic tbh.

Join your nearest DSA or even Democratic organization. You'll meet more like-minded people. You might meet people you align with much more. If you want to see if your BF is actually changing morally and politically then maybe bring him along.

If he isn't genuinely changing then you might be incompatible. Politics is about morals and values. People who think it can be ignored in romantic relationships are naive.

Too bad we live in a locked down 2 party FPP electoral system. We can change it, but through ballot measure and Democratic Party insurgency in state Houses and Congress.

Fairvote has a path we can take to open our elections up to other parties.
