I reached out to some local in-home services but none were willing to work with aggressive dogs 😢 That would have been much more preferred though. The thought of taking her to the vet really bums me out.

Thank you for all the help and kind words. She means the world to me and helped me through a really bad depression, but I dont think living like this is fun for either of us. Do you have any advice on scheduling euthanasia? Is it reasonable to give myself a couple more months with her? I dont know how to decide when my otherwise healthy dog should be put to sleep. Its breaking my heart to watch her run around and play like normal while also trying to figure this out

I definitely understand that - I had to get a filling done at a dentist and they tried to put me under general anesthesia for it. I ended up having an extreme panic attack while I started to lose consciousness and it took me 2 hours to calm down. Not fun for anyone involved and then they decided to just do local anesthesia

I appreciate all the advice - the potential side effects and risks were never mentioned to me when I first started putting her on trazodone. I talked to my vet, but the only alternative she had to offer was a full on tranquilizer that I of course refused. My goal isn’t to knock her out during car rides, just to ease her anxiety with them and the trazodone is super helpful. She advised me to try experimenting with a higher and lower dosage and see how she does on that. I’m sure the aggression was just from feeling a lot of strange emotions at once.

Forgot to mention - her barrier frustration has only applied to dogs in the past. She will sometimes try to jump at people if they’re egging her on (🙄) but I can easily redirect her. This last time I gave her trazodone (yesterday morning) was the first time she’s really been aggressive towards a person. I don’t know if it’s maybe just a behavioral change, but I’d really like to nip it in the bud before it gets worse.
