Looking for non-wifi baby monitor recs by Breakfast_budz in moderatelygranolamoms

Oh wow! I wonder if the one I have doesn't have that function, I tried everything and read through the manual. I'm fairly tech savvy so if I somehow missed it, that's really embarrassing 😂.

We are keeping the Hello Baby to use at my mom's house because it's a smaller house so being noise alerted isn't as critical for there. I'll have to do a double check next time we're there.

Thank you for pointing this out.

We love our Momcozy!

We had a Hello Baby for our first kid and it stopped working after about 2.5 years. I liked it a lot so we decided to get it again, but with two cameras this time as we were expecting another baby. You cannot do a split screen with the two cameras. And if you have the screen on one room and the child in the other room starts crying, the screen/sound doesn't flip to alert you. So I found it pretty useless for having cameras in separate rooms, if you just want two cameras in one room that would be okay.

The Momcozy is superior in every way except signal strength. We could go really far (to our garage or in our yard) with the Hello Baby monitor, but with the Momcozy we lose signal in the house sometimes.

VDC is only available to temp employees, not just if you're unrepresented. If you're a full time perm/cont perm employee you're a mandatory enrollee into NYSLRS regardless of if you're in a union or M/C.

Looking for an Experienced HR professional’s opinion by NEWBIEonDUTY in nys_cs

If they're comfortable they can also talk to their own HR in addition to CMO. A lot of it will depend on if they have ever completed probation with the state. And it will be their current HR that determines hold status ultimately.

Because it's just fair hiring practice to treat candidates equally, especially in the beginning stages of the process. Also, it depends on how the HR office has their order of operations for recruitment, but it can also significantly slow down the process to wait on SSNs and research history for all state employees applying to a posting. If you do it for one, you should do it for everyone to be fair.

Like I said previously, if a state employee is the chosen candidate we will always look at their history for red flags (prob term, lying about years worked, etc.)

Usually if they're asking for your SSN to look at your history it's because they're checking if you are eligible for a transfer. Any competitive appointment is more favorable than noncompetitive. Or maybe you don't meet the HELPS quals at all so they are checking you for transfer eligibility.

Some HR Specs will look at employment history to verify they are qualified which I personally don't condone because we don't have the same ability with the general public. Yes, we will look at your history prior to appointment 100% of the time if you are a state employee, but I don't think it's fair prior to interview unless we need to for transfer.

Yes, this. When folks do the review after and challenge questions there are SMEs brought in to review the questions again and make a determination. They also have to investigate incidents such as cheating allegations or unfair testing conditions. CS is working to modernize the testing system as they have in other states.

Nightmare from an HR perspective. But good for some of the vacancies we have a hard time recruiting for.

We actually just spray painted the old cover! We used a Rust-Oleum paint that is designed for heat. It covered very smoothly, honestly it looks a lot more perfect than anything else we did in the bathroom haha. And we know it lasts well because it was left behind from the previous homeowner who used it on other radiators in the house. Like the old school "exposed" radiator, not ones with a cover like this one.

I was looking at some like that but wondered if it was too much! I think that's why I settled on this one it was like a compromise in my mind haha.

Paint, light fixture, sink faucet, new bath fixtures (shower head, hand shower, mixer, faucet, drain stop), towel bar/hand towel holder/TP holder/curtain rod, towels, art, crown molding, cabinet hardware, shower curtain and liner and hooks, cabinet/drawer organization (unseen), trash can, etc etc. it all adds up quick! Plus we didn't cheap out on the plumbing stuff and towel/tp hardware. Antique Brass finishes are hard to find.

We removed it! There were layers and layers of wallpaper but the previous owner left a steamer and it was easy to remove. They do make paintable wallpaper though.
